At least 5 years CNC machining experience with 4- and 5-axis machines, blueprint reading skills, knowledge of G-codes, measuring instruments, and preferably medical device industry experience.
About the Role We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled CNC Machinist to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in setting up and operating 4- and 5-axis CNC milling machines, interpreting complex blueprints, performing inspections, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Major Responsibilities • Perform production of parts using conventional CNC machines. • Complete unassisted setup of 4- and 5-axis CNC machines. • Read and interpret blueprints/specifications to apply product requirements and accurately process work orders. • Measure product dimensions, evaluate functionality, and verify products meet customer and company specifications. • Document in-process inspections by completing detailed reports and communicating results or corrective recommendations. • Interface with QC personnel (including First Piece Inspection) as needed. • Utilize all types of measuring instruments (micrometers, depth micrometers, verniers, etc.) per inspection guidelines. • Properly use, maintain, sharpen, and replace tooling as necessary. • Provide guidance and oversight to CNC Mill Class II Machinists when required. • Maintain clean machines and work areas, free of chips, oils, and debris. • Promote a safe work environment through proper equipment use and reporting malfunctions. • Actively participate in 6S/Lean initiatives. • Recommend improvements to production processes to support quality control. • Work independently or in teams on special/non-routine projects, including assistance with validation (OQ) and Gage R&R studies. • Perform other duties as assigned. Experience & Expertise • Minimum of five (5) years of experience preferred. • Proven ability to set up and operate 4- and 5-axis CNC milling equipment. • Strong blueprint/specification reading and interpretation skills. • Knowledge of sampling and inspection plans. • Working knowledge of G-codes and controls (Fanuc preferred). • Familiarity with measuring instruments (comparators, height gages, calipers, thread plug gages, etc.). • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). • Experience in the Medical Device industry or working in compliance with ISO 13485 and/or ISO 9001 is a plus. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
