ROLE SUMMARY The US MA Business Operations Lead, Medical Engagement and Impact (MEI) is a key member of the US MA Medical Operations & Enablement Team. They combine organizational expertise with an understanding of US Medical Affairs’ strategic priorities to ensure compliant and efficient execution of plans for the MEI organization. Broadly, their main objective is to: Provide robust strategic, operational, and budgetary support to the MEI organization. To this end, the US MA Business Operations Lead, Medical Engagement and Impact will provide: Lead efforts on behalf of the MEI Team Lead to establish / optimize / evolve the MEI team to ensure alignment, and monitor efficiency, effectiveness & compliance. Independently lead implementation of new ways of working for US Medical Affairs and ensure dissemination of change management communications for the MEI organization. Serves as key point of coordination and communication between MEI, US Medical Affairs, Global Medical Affairs, Operational Excellence Team and other key Platforms/Partners. Provide strategic guidance to MEI colleagues focused on the delivery of high priority projects and senior management requests. Represent the MEI organization in cross functional forums. Lead budget management and the Strategic / Operating Plan development to ensure MEI resources are well balanced to meet strategic objectives both internally and externally. Lead / Co-lead strategic initiatives focused on equity, digital and critical scientific initiatives. The US MA Business Operations Lead, Medical Engagement and Impact reports to the US Medical Business Operations & Enablement Team Lead. They directly support the MEI Lead and their Leadership Team. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES The US MA Business Operations Lead, Medical Engagement and Impact will provide operational support to the MEI Team Lead and partner with the MEI Leadership Team (LT) to ensure efficient functioning of the MEI organization and drive its strategic direction Governance Support effective governance processes/meetings, including MEI LT and other governance committees. Responsible for end to end fit for purpose governance planning/execution. Provide thought partnership to the MEI Team Lead on key issues and topics. Help address & coordinate resolution of requests from various stakeholders. Work and align with key internal stakeholders to ensure consistency. Support the MEI coordination efforts with Other Category Business Operational Leads / Operational Excellence (including Cross-Category Operational Medical Forum). Strategy Development Lead efforts in partnership with the MEI Team Lead for development of 3-5 year MEI Vision, Strategy & Goals. Provide thought partnership on strategic & operational issues / topics. Lead and/or provide strategic directions for project teams on critical initiatives. Define project scope, set strategic goals/objectives & develop project execution plans with clearly defined milestones/metrics. Drive change & transformations, working collaboratively with MEI colleagues, cross-functional Category & other stakeholders as well as senior leaders to deliver actionable solutions to resolve complex challenges. Effectively facilitate/influence complex & strategic conversations. The US MA Business Operations Lead, Medical Engagement and Impact will guide the MEI organization to provide robust operational support for ensuring compliant & efficient functioning. Operational and Budgetary support for MEI organization Lead annual Strategic/Operating Plan for the MEI organization, working closely with MEI colleagues, US MA, Global MA, Platforms, Finance, Commercial, and other stakeholders Lead development of Strategic/Operating Plan communication for MEI LT Lead and oversee all budgetary MEI operations Ensuring timely contracting and meeting all financial spend targets related to activities and projects Lead resource forecasting and tracking to ensure spending is aligned with budget targets Lead efforts for development of MEI specific transparent budget/resource planning and allocation algorithms/models, as well as manage resource planning, allocation & staffing Lead planning/co-ordination of offshore resources, as needed The US MA Business Operations Lead, Medical Engagement and Impact will partner with the MEI LT to drive implementation of new ways of working Represent in cross functional forums as necessary. Lead communication between, Global Medical Affairs, Platforms and US Medical Affairs Organization. Respond to inquiries from MEI Organization on US Medical Affairs, Global Medical Affairs, platform services, new ways of working and change management efforts. Enhancing digital adaptation of technologies: Foster innovation by embedding digital adaptation and building strategy BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact. Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree (e.g., masters) highly preferred. Relevant experience required: 8+ years with Bachelor’s degree; 7+ years with Master’s degree Required Skills Work in a high paced environment Strong Decision-Making skills Entrepreneurial mindset Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with senior levels of management Master at resourcefulness with ability to keep pace with a highly changing environment. Strong strategic thinking skills and ability to lead/ strategic development Excellent business judgment Full knowledge and understanding of all relevant applicable SOPs Proven track record for implementation of projects of strategic importance, on time and within budget Ability to operate effectively in a heavily matrix organization, with experience managing global projects with team members in multiple locations influence without authority Strong communication and interpersonal skills; fluent and able to influence others in spoken and written English Flexibility, the ability to adapt to change, external environment, project scope and direction PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 8+ years of experience in Project Management, Business Operations Prior experience in Medical Affairs is highly preferred. >8 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry or related fields Previous people management experience preferred Understanding and adherence to Project Management methodologies Clinical Trial Experience preferred Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Ability to work independently with shown flexibility and organizational awareness Ability to create & oversee complex projects, including budget management & fiscal awareness Ability to effectively collaborate across multiple functions including Medical (Customer Facing and HQ), Medical Information, Corporate Communications, Digital, and Commercial Must be decisive, exercise good judgment in decisions, organized and with the ability to prioritize a large workload. Ability to manage resources, programs and multiple projects.
