About the Role We are seeking an accomplished Executive Advisor with deep, practical expertise in global apparel sourcing and manufacturing strategy. This part-time role is ideal for a senior industry professional who has spent 15–20 years leading sourcing operations across China, Bangladesh, India, and Indonesia, and who brings both strategic vision and hands-on factory-floor understanding. You will serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team, providing strategic guidance, market intelligence, and operational insight to enhance vendor performance, cost efficiency, and supply-chain agility. This role involves mentoring internal leaders, evaluating supplier networks, and helping shape long-term sourcing frameworks aligned with international best practices. Key Responsibilities • Advise on multi-country sourcing strategy including footprint optimization, dual-sourcing, capacity balancing, and country-of-origin transitions. • Shape long-term vendor portfolio architecture across Tier-1/2/3 suppliers — defining capability mapping, onboarding, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and exit frameworks. • Drive critical-path excellence from tech pack to ex-factory shipment: manage proto, fit, PP, bulk, inspection, and freight booking cycles through TNA and exception management. • Guide development of commercial models (FOB, CNF, DDP) including landed-cost structures, duty/FTA utilization, tariff engineering, vendor financing, LC terms, and AR risk analysis. • Oversee quality and compliance frameworks, including AQL standards, lab protocols, and ESG programs such as Better Work, WRAP, BSCI, GOTS, GRS, and OEKO-TEX. • Coach leaders in S&OP, demand/capacity planning, and material reservation programs (yarn, greige, trims) to reduce airfreight usage and chargebacks. • Advise on ERP/PLM/OMS integration, WIP dashboards, supplier scorecards, and milestone governance to create a unified digital workflow. • Provide market intelligence on raw materials, FX trends, freight indices, and trade policies, and recommend hedging and contingency strategies. • Champion traceability and product integrity from fiber to finished garment, ensuring compliance with restricted-substance and regulatory requirements. • Represent the company in senior vendor and client negotiations; mentor merchandising, technical design, and QA/QC leaders to elevate execution standards. Qualifications (Executive-Level) Experience & Scope • 15–20+ years of leadership in apparel sourcing or production, including 10+ years at executive, managing director, or advisory level. • Direct oversight of major sourcing networks across China, Bangladesh, India, and Indonesia, with proven delivery excellence. • Stewardship of $100M+ annual order volumes or multi-brand portfolios, with measurable improvements in OTD, defect rates, and air-freight optimization. • Leadership experience in global operations or supply chain transformation within brands, OEM/ODM, or large buying-office environments. Country & Vendor Mastery • Extensive vendor network in key manufacturing hubs — Narsingdi/Gazipur, Tiruppur, Zhejiang/Jiangsu/Guangdong, West Java, and Central Java. • Deep understanding of factory capability mapping across knits, wovens, denim, outerwear, underwear, and performance wear. • Hands-on expertise in vendor incubation, remediation, consolidation, and capacity reservation planning for long-term scalability. Commercial & Financial Acumen • Proficient in FOB and DDP pricing, cost architecture, HS classification, and duty mitigation. • Skilled in FTA routing, LC/documentary collection management, vendor financing, and cash conversion cycle analysis. • Experienced negotiator in freight procurement (sea, air, multimodal) and cost-structure optimization. Operational Excellence • Built and implemented TNA calendars and milestone governance to shorten development and production cycles. • Proven record in lead-time reduction via material platforming, early approvals, and greige/trim reservation strategies. • Enhanced efficiency through “right-first-time” sampling and continuous improvement frameworks. Quality, Compliance & Sustainability • Designed and deployed AQL systems, inline/FRI protocols, and lab testing frameworks. • Led social and environmental compliance programs with recognized global standards. • Drove implementation of traceability systems (transactional and physical) and restricted-substance management programs. Technology & Data • Directed successful ERP, PLM, and OMS rollouts, integrating vendor visibility tools and milestone tracking systems. • Built supplier scorecards and KPI frameworks linking performance to incentives and compliance metrics. Leadership & Change • Proven success unifying brand, commercial, and operations teams under cohesive sourcing and production strategies. • Experienced in organizational transformation, productivity initiatives, and change management. • Strong executive communication and cross-cultural leadership, engaging confidently with boards, global customers, and factory ownership. Commitment & Compensation • Part-time advisory engagement (8–12 hours per week) with flexible scheduling. • Performance-linked compensation based on measurable sourcing efficiency, vendor performance, and sustainability outcomes. • Periodic travel to key sourcing regions as required.
