Random House Worlds is the proud home of some of the world’s most recognizable pop culture brands and authors, including Disney, Critical Role, Danielle Jensen, and Rachel Smythe. Our imprints include Del Rey, Random House Worlds, Inklore, and BOOM!. The team at Inklore is seeking an Editorial Assistant to report to the Senior Manager of Editorial Operations & Publishing, handling a combination of editorial and administrative projects for the imprint’s growing list of licensed and original comics, light novels, and webnovels. The position provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in a creative and hands-on department dedicated to publishing best-in-class manga, manhwa, manhua, webtoons, and webnovels from around the world. We are a highly collaborative team who love to bring our authentic style of fandom and nerdery to our favorite stories. The Editorial Assistant will be responsible for daily editorial activities and administrative support. Specific responsibilities include: • Overseeing the scheduling and preparation of materials for departmental meetings • Taking and distributing minutes for recurring departmental meetings • Building presentation decks for both internal and external meetings • Writing catalog/cover copy (the synopsis/sell of the book) and title info sheets • Evaluating pitch decks, scroll comics, and manuscript submissions • Helping to track and research top comics and webnovels gaining traction overseas or on digital platforms • Submitting various materials to creators/licensing partners for approval • Assisting with creator and licensor communications and requests • Routing contract information sheets upon acquisition of new titles • Assisting with invoice and contract payment processing • Assisting with schedule maintenance and metadata tracking • General administrative assistance to the Editor-in-Chief as needed Excellent communication and organizational skills are required. Candidates should have demonstrated success in a fast-paced work environment that necessitates managing complicated schedules with attention to administrative detail. Inklore is a collaborative publishing environment, and candidates should be comfortable working as part of a team and willing to go the extra mile for creators and licensing partners. Please apply if you meet the following qualifications: • Genuine interest in comics, webtoons, webnovels, and publishing in translation • Strong organizational, scheduling, and time management skills • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills • Strong ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure in a deadline driven environment • Talent for creative storytelling (in any medium) and narrative development • Collaborative and curious with a willingness to take on additional projects • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat and the Creative Suite • Fluency in Japanese a plus, but not required • Position can be remote, but hybrid is strongly preferred • Remote candidates will be asked to commit to working Central or East Coast hours The Random House Worlds office is located in New York City. While the position is open to remote candidates based in the United States, the ideal candidate would be located near our New York City headquarters and available to work in-office approximately once per week. All candidates must be able to work primarily on Eastern or Central Time. The salary for this position is $51,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
