LEAD SPECIALIST, PRODUCT MANAGEMENT PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The Product Manager, School IT Services is responsible for defining, delivering, and continuously improving technology services that support K–12 virtual and blended school operations. This role ensures school technology needs are clearly understood and translated into scalable, high‑quality products and services that improve staff efficiency, learning experiences, and overall school performance. The Product Manager serves as the strategic bridge between schools, engineering, operations, and customer success teams—prioritizing problems, shaping requirements, ensuring smooth delivery, and enabling adoption of IT service capabilities.   CORE RESPONSIBILITIES PRODUCT STRATEGY & VISION * Develop and maintain a clear product vision and roadmap for School IT Services aligned to organizational goals and school operational needs. * Analyze school feedback, operational data, regulatory requirements, and market trends to identify opportunities for new services or enhancements. DISCOVERY & REQUIREMENTS * Lead structured discovery with school leaders, administrators, teachers, and internal partners to understand challenges and technology gaps. * Translate user needs into clear, actionable product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and service definitions. * Partner with cross‑functional teams on solution design, ensuring services meet accessibility, security, and performance standards. DELIVERY & EXECUTION * Work closely with engineering, IT operations, security, and service delivery teams to plan, build, and launch new capabilities. * Prioritize backlog items using data‑driven decision‑making, balancing school impact, effort, and strategic alignment. STAKEHOLDER COMMUNICATION & CHANGE MANAGEMENT * Communicate roadmap, release plans, and feature updates to school partners and internal stakeholders. * Prepare and deliver clear, value‑focused communications to support service adoption, including training materials, walkthroughs, and updates for school leadership teams. * Ensure feedback loops are established with schools to drive continuous improvement. SERVICE PERFORMANCE & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT * Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to service quality, reliability, and adoption. * Identify and implement improvements to processes, workflows, or support models. * Maintain documentation, service catalogs, and knowledge assets related to School IT Services.   QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED * Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience. * 3+ years of product management or IT services experience, preferably in K–12, EdTech, SaaS, or service‑oriented environments. * Strong understanding of school operations, educational technology ecosystems, or IT service management. * Demonstrated ability to gather requirements, build roadmaps, and lead cross‑functional delivery. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to translate complex concepts into clear, actionable insights. * Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment. PREFERRED * Experience working directly with virtual or blended schools. * Familiarity with education compliance, privacy, and security requirements (e.g., FERPA, COPPA). * Experience with service catalog development or operational process improvement.   WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS School IT Services is foundational to the success of virtual and blended learning environments. The Product Manager ensures that schools have reliable, intuitive, and scalable technology services—empowering educators and students while reducing operational friction.   Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location.
