About the Job As the Head of Facilities, you'll be responsible for leading a team of engineers and technicians responsible for delivering real estate and utility infrastructure supporting Peak Energy's portfolio of operations. This position holds fiscal budgeting responsibility for both CapEx investment and OpEx spend for continuing operations required to achieve company goals and growth. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a durable goods manufacturing environment, preferably with a start-up organization competing within a high growth and rapidly changing business environment. This position requires an individual seeking a healthy mix of hands-on knowledge, shop floor execution, and technical team leadership along with development of forward-looking investment and project execution plans delivered to company leadership and executives. Responsibilities Strategic Planning & Real Estate • Work with Peak Energy Strategy team to determine future real estate portfolio required to support company growth • Evaluate greenfield vs brownfield projects, geography/labor markets, lease vs purchase options, and permitting requirements in consideration of budget, schedule, and resource availability • Understand future company staffing projections and maintain adequate office infrastructure including real estate and furniture, working with IT for technology infrastructure upgrades Construction & Project Management • Establish and manage construction/expansion project budgets • Develop project scope for contracting technical design and execution teams • Manage external resources to meet project budget and schedule • Develop commissioning and move-in/hand over work plans to close out projects Facilities Maintenance & Operations • Identify, schedule, and document all on-going facility maintenance and procurement plans covering building/site infrastructure, shared utilities (produced and purchased), consumables, and soft services support including security, site logistics, and catering • Lead Facilities business process improvement initiatives including energy efficiency, material recycling/reuse for waste minimization, and working with equipment and process engineers to establish optimum building/site layout efficiency Safety & Regulatory Compliance • Coordinate site safety plans including Emergency Response, LOTO, powered industrial truck, energized work, rigging and lifting equipment, and machine/tool handling • Conduct EH&S risk/hazard assessments for new equipment and tools prior to installation • Work with stakeholders to ensure all equipment brought into the facility meets applicable local, state, and federal requirements • Identify applicable regulatory permits and programs the company must attain and/or comply with for operations • Support emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and business continuity Process & Equipment Support • Contribute to or lead equipment failure or incident investigations and identification of corrective and preventive actions • Identify space and utility limitations to in-house expansion; develop mitigation plans to include in budgeting and project scheduling activities for company success Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields • 5+ years of relevant work experience in battery, semiconductor, technology, or similar industry preferred • Proficient in project management with proven ability to identify initiatives, establish project plans and resource requirements, obtain stakeholder and management buy-in, and successfully drive projects to completion • Proven experience leading new facility/equipment installation construction projects providing design and budget oversight • Knowledge of construction permitting and code compliance requirements from facility/utility and EHS perspectives • Desire to lead and grow team's technical and professional capabilities • Willingness to adapt to new technologies and industry trends Preferred Qualifications • Experience managing facility scope project values more than $10M • Experience managing EHS compliance programs including hazardous waste and recycling, air/storm water permitting, new task and/or equipment safety reviews, PPE adherence, and employee health and welfare The salary range for this role is $170,000 - $230,000, with actual pay varying based on work location, experience, and skills.
