About the Role The Computer Technician Lead plays a key role in overseeing technician operations and ensuring high-quality computer repairs and refurbishments. This position combines technical expertise with leadership and customer service. The Technician Lead is responsible for completing and overseeing repairs, supporting customer repair requests, and serving as the main technician for online (e-commerce) repair orders. This position will also assist in process improvements, training, and maintaining quality standards across the warehouse. Key Responsibilities Computer Repair & Operations • Repair, refurbish, and upgrade donated desktops and laptops, including disassembly, reassembly, and hardware replacement • Perform computer troubleshooting, repairs, and hard drive sanitization • Image computers using disk imaging and automated operating system installation tools • Conduct quality control (QC) checks on hard drives and ensure proper image deployment for various devices • Maintain accurate technical documentation and ensure work area cleanliness and organization • Load and unload computer equipment as needed Customer Support • Serve as the primary technician for all online repair requests, ensuring prompt completion and quality assurance • Communicate with customers regarding repair status, updates, and technical support needs • Manage repair workflows from online orders, providing follow-up and ensuring high customer satisfaction • Provide excellent customer service and support for both walk-in and online repairs Leadership & Team Support • Delegate daily tasks and provide technical training for new and existing technicians • Collaborate with managers to improve processes and meet daily/weekly refurbishment and KPI goals • Coordinate volunteer activities and provide technical guidance during warehouse events • Assist with network and camera system maintenance as needed • Support special projects and perform additional duties as assigned Requirements: Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred • 3+ years of experience as a computer technician or similar technical role • 1-2 years of experience in a lead or supervisory capacity preferred • Proven experience in computer repair, refurbishing, and imaging in a Windows PC environment • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong customer service focus • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced warehouse setting • Flexible, adaptable, and self-motivated with a desire for continuous learning What We Value • Genuine interest in people, technology, and digital equity • Compassionate, curious, and community-minded • Graceful under pressure and adaptable in dynamic situations • Collaborative teammate who brings energy and empathy to every interaction • Self-motivated and solutions-oriented thinker • Previous networking and/or installation experience highly desirable Physical Requirements • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a workstation or service counter • Ability to frequently lift or move items up to 25 pounds, occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds • Frequent use of computer, phone, and other office equipment • Capability to communicate clearly in person, by phone, and over digital platforms • Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching • Capability to work in various indoor non temperature controlled environments • Manual dexterity to handle tools, and small components • Extended periods of walking or standing throughout the workday • Visual acuity to read labels and perform detailed tasks • Willingness to adhere to physical safety protocols We are a growing non-profit and expect this position to drive continued growth.
