Come and join us — where payments meet purpose! | What we are looking for The Director, Product Development & Management is responsible for leading strategic product initiatives across the enterprise payments portfolio. This individual is accountable for product strategy, cross-border expansion, digital asset innovation, and disciplined execution. This role focuses on enterprise-level product lifecycle leadership, translating corporate strategy into actionable roadmaps and delivering measurable outcomes in a regulated financial services environment. The Director acts as a "force multiplier," building the systems and processes that ensure initiatives move from concept to execution with urgency and rigor. The incumbent will drive clarity of ownership and lead cross-functional committees to establish best practices in product development and management lifecycles. | A day in the life Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to: Enterprise Product Strategy & Roadmap Development • Translate corporate strategy and scorecard objectives into structured, multi-year product roadmaps. • Identify emerging market opportunities and define strategic product priorities. • Develop business cases supported by financial modeling, risk assessment, and competitive analysis. • Establish prioritization frameworks to balance strategic impact, risk, and resource capacity. Cross-Border & Emerging Payment Initiatives • Lead development of cross-border payment strategies, including global interoperability and settlement innovation. • Define and advance product strategies related to tokenization, digital assets, distributed ledger technology (DLT), and stablecoin-enabled payments. • Monitor industry developments and regulatory trends to inform product direction. • Provide thought leadership on evolving payment ecosystems and modernization opportunities. End-to-End Product Lifecycle Leadership • Oversee the full product lifecycle from ideation, design, and build through launch and optimization. • Define product value propositions, target segments, and measurable success metrics (KPIs and KRIs). • Establish stage-gate decision processes and structured development milestones to strengthen consistency and accountability. • Ensure ongoing product performance monitoring and continuous improvement. Execution & Delivery Management • Develop detailed execution plans, workback schedules, and critical path analyses for major initiatives. • Drive decision-making cadence and remove execution barriers across cross-functional teams. • Ensure initiatives progress from analysis to implementation within defined timelines. • Provide transparent executive reporting on progress, risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans to provide a single source of truth for leadership. Cross-Functional Leadership & Governance Alignment • Partner with Policy, Rules, Research, Corporate Strategy, Operations, Technology, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Government Relations, and Member Relations. • Embed regulatory, operational, and risk considerations directly into product design and lifecycle. • Facilitate alignment across internal stakeholders to ensure clear accountability and decision ownership. • Present product strategies and progress updates to executive leadership and governance forums. Product Capability & Organizational Strengthening • Elevate product management discipline through standardized methodologies, templates, and performance metrics. • Mentor and support product managers to strengthen execution capability. • Identify capability gaps and support talent planning to address emerging needs. • Foster a results-driven culture focused on measurable outcomes and accountability by overseeing the team that acts as an internal consulting unit. |What you need to be successful • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Business, Economics, or a related discipline. • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Product Management, Product Operations, or Product Enablement within the payments/financial services sector, including a minimum of ten (5) years of experience in a people leadership role. • Proven success implementing scalable product frameworks and process improvements. • Experience within regulated sectors, such as financial services, payments, fintech, or government. • Experience embedding regulatory and compliance controls directly into the product lifecycle. • Proven ability to build executive-ready business cases and lead complex, enterprise-scale product initiatives while navigating ambiguity. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex ideas clearly and persuasively. • Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. • Strong problem-solving orientation, capable of navigating ambiguity and driving clarity in fast-paced, evolving environments. • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Reliability Status Clearance and can successfully complete enhanced background checks that may be carried out by Payments Canada. |You will really stand out with • Demonstrated experience with cross-border payments, digital assets, tokenization, or DLT is considered an asset. | Salary range • Based on qualifications and experience: $126,750 to $169,000.
