Patriot Engineering and Environmental is growing and is looking for a Senior Ecologist / Biologist - NEPA Team Lead to join our talented and impactful team in our Cincinnati or Dayton, OH office. Headquartered in Indianapolis, IN, Patriot Engineering and Environmental is an Employee Owned, diverse engineering firm with multi-state locations and presence providing geotechnical, environmental, and construction materials engineering services and consultation to commercial, industrial and governmental clients. The ideal candidate will have experience overseeing environmental impact assessments, coordinating with agencies, and leading interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality environmental documentation. As the NEPA Team Lead, you will take charge of high-impact projects, guiding the development of Environmental Assessments (EAs) and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs) from start to finish. You will collaborate with a dynamic, multidisciplinary team while managing timelines, budgets, and agency coordination to ensure regulatory excellence and real-world results. This is a leadership role where your voice matters—whether mentoring staff, engaging with the public, or advising clients. Ideal candidates bring 15+ years of NEPA experience, a background in Ecology, Biology, Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field, and a passion for making complex projects both compliant and community focused. Essential Duties include: Lead and manage NEPA projects, including wetland and stream assessments and mitigation, Environmental Impact Statements (EISs) and Environmental Assessments (EAs). Oversee project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies, as well as stakeholders and the public. Supervise and mentor junior staff, ensuring quality and consistency in environmental documentation. Conduct impact analyses, review technical reports, and provide strategic guidance on environmental planning. Stay up to date with Regulatory regulations, policies, and best practices. Qualifications Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Ecology, Biology, Engineering, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or a related field. 15+ years of demonstrated experience in NEPA project management, environmental consulting, or related fields. In-depth knowledge of NEPA regulations, CEQ guidelines, and federal agency NEPA processes. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. Experience working with agencies such as USACE, FEMA, and DOE is a plus. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Working knowledge of computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite is expected. Demonstrated ability to listen, learn, and communicate at highest levels. Excellent time management skills - understanding and setting priorities to realize value added and focused activities and deliverables. Excellent listening and communication skills. Demonstrated success in planning and realizing stated project plans/goals. Demonstrated professionalism, energy, and enthusiasm as a company representative.
