We are looking to fill a Scientist 3 - Biophysical and Materials Analytical Characterization position working as an employee of Parexel FSP on a temporary assignment onsite at one of our clients located in West Point, PA. This Parexel position offers full benefits, sick time, 401K, paid holidays, and paid time off. This role does not offer sponsorship. Description – This is a laboratory-based scientific role in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment, requiring the utilization of biophysical analytical characterization techniques to support development of vaccine drug substance and drug products in a GMP-like environment. The vaccine drug substance and product development support includes sample manipulation, equipment maintenance, routine analysis, and characterization of development vaccines to support process and formulation development. Responsibilities Complete vaccine related testing and composition of associated documentation. Maintain a safe laboratory collaborating with the team to upkeep instruments. Ensure laboratory cleanliness and exemplify a safety-first mindset. Provide support to the scientists developing novel vaccines. Sample preparations and manipulations, associated documentation. Analysis of samples for particle size distribution leveraging fundamental biophysical tools [(dynamic light scattering (DLS), static laser light scattering (SLS), micro-flow imaging (MFI)] and flow cytometry. Monitoring and ordering lab supplies and chemicals, enable sample shipments as needed. Qualifications Scientist 3 BS in chemistry, biology, or related field with 3-5 years of experience or MS with 1-2 years of experience Required Skills and Experience Understanding of technical problem solving, innovative research experience and ability to communicate scientific concepts with effective interpersonal skills An effective collaborator with the ability to work both independently and in cross-functional teams to deliver on goals. Experience in a laboratory environment and strong organizational skills to conduct laboratory procedures including simplistic daily maintenance /calibration. Strong communications skills required for effective communication including participation in data review. Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and MS Outlook including skills to simplify and communicate results/conclusions. High compliance standard with experience in good documentation practices, OSHA safety standards, SOP-observance capabilities, and laboratory inspection/internal audit readiness. Desired Skills and Experience Knowledge of particle size analysis (DLS, SLS, MFI, Flow Cytometry) is highly desirable. Expertise in analytical ultracentrifugation (AUC), nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA), flow cytometry, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) including data interpretation skills is preferred. Interest and ability to learn new concepts outside of core expertise and training. Digital/Machine Learning, Small Angle X-Ray Scattering (SAXS) and/or cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM) including data interpretation for biologics, materials, or vaccines.
