Description: As a Kitchen Manager at Papa John's, you will be the core leader overseeing all back-of-house operations. You'll be instrumental in ensuring every product meets our high-quality standards and that the kitchen runs efficiently, safely, and to company specifications. This role requires a dedicated professional to manage the preparation and production of our pizzas and sides, working closely with the General Manager to deliver an exceptional experience for our customers. Responsibilities • The Kitchen Manager is primarily responsible for the daily supervision of the kitchen team members, including their training, development, and performance management. This includes having the authority for corrective action up to and including termination, and ensuring that the back-of-house team executes all tasks with the highest standards of quality and efficiency. • Achieve operational excellence by acting as a strong, self-reliant leader, making sound production and personnel decisions, and fostering a culture of pride and accountability within the kitchen staff. • Additional duties encompass the management of shift-level kitchen operations and ensuring complete compliance with all Company standards, protocols, programs, and systems. • This position has primary accountability for shift leadership, hiring and onboarding of kitchen staff, ongoing training, performance reviews, and administering corrective actions. • Kitchen staff and in-store team members directly report to this position. • This role is typically assigned to high-volume or complex locations and reports directly to the Restaurant General Manager. • Ensure the delivery of premium products to our customers by implementing a comprehensive quality system with the team, guaranteeing every item prepared meets Papa John’s standards and precisely matches the customer’s order. • Communicate, instruct, and reinforce food quality and preparation standards to the kitchen team using all resources, including the Operations Manual. • Confirm all team members maintain current food safety certifications; manage restaurant assets by maintaining a continuously clean, organized, and secure kitchen area. • Oversee the work activities of all non-exempt kitchen and in-store team members, including shift leads, during scheduled shifts. • In the absence of the General Manager, assume responsibility for all restaurant functions to uphold high quality standards and customer service. • Actively participate in the recruitment of motivated, quality-focused team members, ensure appropriate staffing levels based on sales forecasts, properly orient and train new kitchen staff, maintain uniform and appearance compliance, and clearly set performance expectations for direct reports. • Accurately document performance deficiencies and execute appropriate disciplinary measures, up to and including employment separation. • Provide effective coaching and development to kitchen staff; cultivate an environment characterized by teamwork, high energy, and enthusiasm. • Support the achievement of sales targets by ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of all menu items. • Contribute to and implement strategies to address negative trends and enhance the profitability of the back-of-house operations. • Execute shift-level inventory controls and manage food cost responsibilities.
