Lead engineering and architecture for full-stack SaaS applications with cloud integration and team mentorship.
7+ years experience with senior leadership, .NET/C#, React, Azure services, SQL expertise, AI integration, and SaaS architecture.
About Pandesco Pandesco is a SaaS technology creator and Boutique Managed Service Provider (MSP) headquartered in Austin, Texas. We deliver innovative IT and cloud solutions to specialty, luxury retail, and consumer products businesses — blending managed services with proprietary software development to help our clients modernize, operate efficiently, and grow. We are a small, fast-moving team. Everyone here is a builder. We value depth, ownership, and people who take pride in their craft. The Role We are looking for a Lead Engineer who is equal parts architect, hands-on developer, and technical mentor. This is an Individual Contributor (IC) role — you will be designing and building production systems every week while also setting engineering standards, guiding onshore and offshore delivery resources, and partnering directly with senior leadership on both internal product development and client-facing solutions. The ideal candidate is a utility-knife engineer: someone who moves confidently across the full stack, is at home in Azure and MS Fabric, can write clean .NET (C#) and React, model complex data in SQL, and integrate AI capabilities directly into production applications. You build things end-to-end, hand them off cleanly with proper knowledge transfer, and know how to integrate well with a cross-functional team that includes onshore and offshore engineers, DevOps specialists, and operational support. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Architecture • Design and architect scalable, multi-tenant SaaS applications and internal platforms across cloud and on-premises environments. • Define and enforce engineering standards, patterns, and best practices across the team. • Produce high‑quality architecture documents, diagrams, and technical specifications. • Lead technical design reviews, code reviews, and architecture decisions with senior leadership. • Evaluate and introduce new technologies that improve delivery quality, velocity, or system performance. • Provide hands-on technical mentorship to onshore and offshore engineers — leveling the team up through doing, not just directing. Software Development • Design, develop, and deploy full-stack applications using .NET (C#) on the backend and React on the frontend. • Build and maintain multi-tenant SaaS platforms with RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) and SBAC (Subscription/Segment-Based Access Control) models. • Develop and optimize SQL data models, stored procedures, and complex queries for both transactional and analytical workloads. • Build integrations between business systems including ERP, CRM, POS, and third-party APIs. • Integrate AI-powered capabilities into Pandesco's in-house applications — including LLM orchestration, intelligent automation, and AI-assisted workflows using Azure AI services and/or Azure AI Foundry. • Implement secure coding practices including proper Key Vault integration, secret management, and identity-aware application patterns. Azure Services & Application Integration • Design and deploy solutions leveraging Azure App Services, Azure SQL, Azure Functions, Service Bus, API Management, and related services. • Collaborate with DevOps/CI/CD engineers to define pipeline requirements for application build, test, and deployment — you will contribute to and work within pipelines, not own their ongoing maintenance. • Design, configure, and build Logic Apps workflows, connectors, triggers, and actions to automate business processes; hand off to operational support teams following documented knowledge transfer. • Integrate Azure Key Vault into application code for secret management, certificate handling, and secure configuration — a required part of every application you build. • Work collaboratively with the team on managed identity configuration, RBAC assignments, and Defender for Cloud — contributing to a secure posture without owning infrastructure administration. Microsoft Fabric & Data Engineering • Design and build data pipelines, lakehouses, and analytics assets within Microsoft Fabric. • Develop automated deployment pipelines for Fabric workspaces and data assets via ADO. • Build Power BI semantic models, reports, and dashboards to deliver operational and business intelligence insights to internal teams and clients. • Apply data engineering best practices: data modeling, transformation pipelines, data quality, and governance. Client & Internal Delivery • Serve as the primary senior technical resource on complex client engagements — from scoping through delivery. • Collaborate with account management, project management, and operations teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions. • Support onboarding of new clients into Pandesco's platform and services ecosystem. • Maintain thorough technical documentation: architecture diagrams, runbooks, API specs, and deployment guides. Required Qualifications • 7+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead engineering role. • .NET / C# proficiency — production-grade API development, service architecture, background processing. • React — production experience building modern, component-driven front-end applications. • Strong SQL expertise — data modeling, query optimization, stored procedures, and schema design across SQL Server or Azure SQL. • Hands-on Azure experience — App Services, Azure SQL, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Logic Apps, API Management. • Azure Key Vault — integrating secrets, certificates, and managed identities into application code as a standard development practice. • Azure DevOps (ADO) — ability to work within and collaborate on CI/CD pipelines; pipeline ownership is handled by dedicated DevOps resources. • Logic Apps — designing and configuring workflows, connectors, triggers, and actions; ability to produce thorough KT documentation for operational handoff. • Microsoft Fabric — experience building data pipelines, lakehouses, and deploying Fabric workspaces. • Power BI — semantic model design, DAX, report development, and workspace management. • Multi-tenant SaaS architecture — experience designing and operating shared-infrastructure applications with tenant isolation. • RBAC & SBAC — implementation of role-based and attribute/segment-based access control patterns at both the application and platform layers. • AI integration — hands-on experience building AI-powered application features using Azure OpenAI, Azure AI services, or equivalent LLM/ML APIs. • Strong communication skills — able to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and produce clear, maintainable documentation. • Proven ability to lead and mentor technical teams, including remote or offshore engineers. Preferred Qualifications • Experience in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) or technology consulting environment. • Azure AI Foundry — experience with AI model deployment, prompt engineering, RAG patterns, and operationalizing AI features in production applications. • Familiarity with Azure Service Fabric for microservices orchestration. • Experience with retail, specialty brand, or CPG business systems (POS, ERP, inventory). • Microsoft certifications: AZ-204 (Developer), AZ-305 (Solutions Architect), AZ-400 (DevOps Engineer Expert), or equivalent. • Familiarity with compliance frameworks: SOC 2, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001. • Scripting proficiency in PowerShell, Python, or Bash. • Familiarity with IaC concepts (ARM, Bicep, or Terraform) — not a requirement to own, but helpful for collaboration with DevOps team. What We Offer • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience. • Performance-based bonus tied to individual and company outcomes. • Future equity participation — we want the right person to have a stake in what we're building. • Full benefits: health, dental, and vision insurance. • Paid time off and company holidays. • Direct access to executive leadership and a meaningful seat at the table on product and technical direction. • Exposure to a wide range of industries and problem domains through our MSP client base. • A lean, talented team where your contributions are visible, valued, and impactful.
