Organization: CIM Comprehensive Immunizations Schedule: Full time DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Specialist, Communications Join us and help shape impactful communication strategies that advance public health across the Americas The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO), is seeking a motivated, creative, and results‑oriented Specialist, Communications to support the planning and implementation of high‑impact communication initiatives within the Special Program on Comprehensive Immunizations (CIM). The selected candidate will contribute to strengthening PAHO’s visibility, engagement, and knowledge sharing through strategic communication campaigns, multimedia content, and collaboration with technical teams, partners, and country focal points. Under the direct supervision of the Executive Manager, Comprehensive Immunizations (CIM), the incumbent will: Support the development and implementation of communication campaigns and activities related to immunization initiatives and public health priorities. Collaborate with technical teams and partners to adapt content for multiple dissemination platforms, ensuring alignment with PAHO’s brand and communication standards. Coordinate the preparation and dissemination of multilingual communication products, including newsletters and digital materials. Contribute to monitoring, reporting, and assessment of communication campaigns and tools. Support communication focal points in countries by providing guidance, information, and materials. Education Essential: A bachelor's degree in journalism, information sciences, media studies, communications, or any other field related to the functions of the position, from a recognized university. Experience Essential: Three years of combined national and international professional experience working in information and knowledge management and/or communication projects. Desirable: Experience working in Journalism or media would be an asset. Languages Very good knowledge of English or Spanish with a working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese would be an asset. IT Skills Demonstrated ability to effectively use current technology and software, spreadsheets and presentations, as well as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and management information systems. Other IT skills and knowledge of software programs such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, OneDrive, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Word are considered essential. Other IT skills and knowledge of the other software programs such as drupal, joomla, phtotoshop or final cut, would be an asset. The skills required are: Design, planning, and implementation of communication strategies and campaigns. Development and conceptualization of multimedia and digital communication content. Knowledge sharing and information management methodologies. Strong analytical, organizational, and coordination skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including report writing and presentations. Ability to manage multiple assignments independently and meet deadlines. Duration of Contract This is an initial 11-month assignment, with possibility of extensions, subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
