The Director of Training & Program Communications is responsible for developing and leading the strategic vision for organizational learning, training delivery, and program communications. This role oversees the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of training initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, operational priorities, and workforce development strategies. The Director will lead enterprise-wide learning programs, oversee learning technology including Learning Management Systems (LMS), and ensure effective communication strategies that support program adoption, engagement, and performance outcomes. This role requires a strategic leader with experience designing scalable training systems, implementing LMS functionality, and aligning learning initiatives with business objectives. The training team is responsible for designing, delivering, and maintaining high‑quality training experience for both internal team members and external users of Palco’s products and services. This role supports the full lifecycle of learning—guiding new employees beyond initial onboarding, ensuring continued internal skill development, and equipping external partners and stakeholders with clear, effective educational resources. Additionally, the team manages Palco’s internal and external training libraries, develops engaging training content, and facilitates regular training sessions on topics such as product updates, process changes, and workplace productivity. This role collaborates closely with HR, Marketing, Product Management, and the Client Engagement Team to ensure all training materials and communications are accurate, timely, and aligned with current organizational needs. Responsibilities include supporting employees after their first 90 days, developing and maintaining user guides and LMS content for external audiences, and coordinating scheduled educational communications such as training emails and text notifications. The trainings also deliver train‑the‑trainer programs and maintains comprehensive documentation to ensure a consistent, high‑quality learning experience across all audiences. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership • Develop and execute a comprehensive training and program communications strategy aligned with organizational goals and workforce development priorities. • Partner with executive leadership to identify capability gaps and build training initiatives that support long-term strategic outcomes. • Establish training standards, governance models, and best practices across programs and departments. Learning & Development • Lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise training programs including onboarding, leadership development, compliance training, and professional skills development. • Implement scalable learning frameworks that support both in-person and digital learning environments. • Evaluate program effectiveness through metrics, analytics, and continuous improvement strategies. Learning Management System (LMS) Strategy & Implementation • Oversee the design, implementation, and administration of LMS platforms to support organizational training needs externally. • Lead LMS functionality planning including course architecture, learning pathways, certifications, reporting, and automation for program stakeholders. • Proactively build program specific training curriculum and educational videos to support the philosophy of self-direction and program compliance topics for stakeholders. Program Communications • Develop and implement communication strategies that support training initiatives and program adoption. • Create clear messaging frameworks for program launches, updates, and organizational learning initiatives. • Collaborate with internal communications teams to ensure consistent messaging and engagement across stakeholder groups. Team Leadership • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of training specialists, instructional designers, and communications professionals. • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning. • Manage departmental budgets, resources, and vendor partnerships. Evaluation & Continuous Improvement • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to measure training effectiveness and impact. • Conduct needs assessments and stakeholder consultations to inform program development. • Drive continuous improvement through feedback loops, data analysis, and emerging learning technologies. Skills and Attributes • Excellent presentation, facilitation, and communication skills. • Ability to simplify complex information into clear, accessible training content. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Strong collaboration skills with marketing, product, and client-facing teams. • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable to shifting needs or product updates. • Ability to manage multiple training topics and deadlines. Education and Experience • Bachelor’s degree in organizational development, Education, Communications, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field required. Master’s degree in organizational development, Learning & Development, Instructional Design, Communications, or Business Administration preferred. • 8+ years of experience in training, operations, onboarding, communications, or instructional design required. Experience in the Self-Direction or Financial Management Services Industry highly preferred. • 5+ years of senior leadership or director-level experience managing training programs or enterprise learning initiatives. • Strong working knowledge of SharePoint, including content management and organizational design. • Experience developing or maintaining user guides, training materials, and demonstrated experience designing and implementing Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital learning strategies. • Ability to manage email and text communication workflows or platforms (experience with CRM or campaign tools is a plus). • Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives and collaborating with executive leadership, HR, Marketing, and product-focused teams is a plus. Technical Skills • Strong expertise in LMS platforms (e.g., Cornerstone, Workday Learning, Moodle, Docebo, or similar systems). • Experience designing learning pathways, certifications, compliance tracking, and reporting structures within LMS platforms. • Familiarity with instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM, or similar frameworks). • Experience with training analytics, learning metrics, and performance dashboards.
