Full Description

Government Affairs Associate Pac/West Strategies is now accepting applications for a Government Affairs Associate or Senior Associate. This is an in-person position in Denver, Colorado. Our firm serves a diverse array of clients, providing support in government affairs, campaign management, and strategic communications projects at the federal, state, and local levels. Qualified candidates will have a foundational knowledge of the political and broader public relations landscape, with experience or extensive knowledge of government processes at the state and federal level. Our projects require driven, detail-oriented individuals with a passion for public policy and communication efforts. Qualified candidates should demonstrate a desire to expand their skillset in government affairs and communication efforts within this role. JOB DETAILS · Support government affairs projects and staff in a variety of policy areas. · Prepare correspondence and materials for clients including legislative analysis, regulatory overviews, outreach materials, etc. · Facilitate a line of regular communication with clients. · Research and analyze new policy developments to support strategic decision-making efforts. · Develop political and government affairs strategies, as well as necessary materials. · Facilitate a successful line of communication between multiple entities including federal, state, and local governments. · Demonstrate effective communication skills to update team members on new updates pertaining to client needs. · Assist with business development tasks as assigned. · Assist with administrative duties of the firm as assigned. SKILL REQUIREMENTS · Ability to navigate complex policy and communication challenges. · Demonstrate proactive client management skills by anticipating future client needs. · Strong understanding of policy and politics at the federal, state, and local levels. · Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills. · Self-starter that is highly organized, detail-oriented, and willing to ask questions as needed. · Possess the ability to initiate projects, multi-task, and operate on quick turnarounds with limited instruction. · Interpersonal skills that enable collaborative working relationships with fellow employees and demonstrate the ability to follow through on projects in a timely manner. · Able to receive constructive feedback and make adjustments as needed. · Confident personality and comfortable working in high-energy, high-pressure, and quick-turnaround situations. · Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. AREAS OF INTEREST Qualified candidates should have an interest and familiarity with these areas: · Federal, state, and local government. · Political affairs at the state and federal level. · Political campaigns (candidate or issue). · Educational campaigns and strategic communications. · Energy, agriculture & natural resources. · ESG and sustainability reporting. · Transportation and infrastructure policy. · Public relations, stakeholder relations, and outreach. JOB REQUIREMENTS · Bachelor’s degree in political science, government, international relations, or related field. · Working knowledge of the federal and state political systems. · Maintain professional confidentiality standards when working with clients and vendors. · Some evenings/weekend work as well as overnight travel may be required.
