We’re actively seeking a talented Senior Cloud Engineer to join our Cloud Shared Services team in Charlotte, NC. Pacific Life is maturing its cloud platforms to support its digital transformation journey. We are looking for a senior level cloud engineer that will help us build the capabilities for the organization to leverage cloud services safely, securely, and efficiently at scale. This individual will be part of a team of highly skilled cloud engineers who will help in building the next generation of cloud platforms at Pacific Life. They will be integral to the design and implementation of core cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines for build and deploy, cloud governance platforms and controls, and the necessary automation and best-in-class tooling to support it. The individual will provide consultation and guidance to these key areas and help us build a world-class suite of cloud-enabled capabilities. The successful candidate will have proven experience in achieving these goals in a large and highly distributed enterprise organization. They should be a team player, great communicator, insatiable learner, and business-value oriented. How you will help move us forward: Deliver and maintain software, scripts, configuration files, and other programming artifacts to implement robust solutions. Utilize core tools including (but not exclusively): AWS, Azure, Terraform, Ansible, and Azure DevOps Pipelines. Ensure end-to-end availability and performance of mission-critical services by building automation to prevent problem recurrence and automating responses to service conditions. Integrate and enforce security best practices across all cloud assets, including managing shared secrets, key rotation, and other critical security requirements. Collaborate closely with the corporate security team to deploy cloud security tools, enforce policies, and monitor access. Participate in the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of tools, software, policies, and procedures. Partner with business stakeholders, support teams, and engineering teams to provide comprehensive solutions. Review design and test plans from other infrastructure, information security, and application teams, identifying potential gaps and alternative solutions. Act as a recognized expert within the organization, contributing to the development of functional strategy and recommending process, product, or service improvements. The experience you bring: 4+ years of experience in an applicable cloud, infrastructure, or software engineering role. 2−4 years of hands-on experience building cloud infrastructure or cloud-native applications via automation. Required hands-on experience in both AWS and Azure. Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience and certifications. Proven experience working as part of a Scrum or Agile team. Strong background in at least two of the following areas: compute & storage, network, security, software development, or data analytics. Proficient in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or Node.JS. Experience with bash and PowerShell, as well as the Command-Line Interface (CLI) for at least one major cloud service (preferably AWS CLI). Experience using a configuration management platform such as Tanium, Ansible or Puppet. Effective communicator with the ability to interact with a wide variety of stakeholders and experience presenting to non-technical business audiences. What makes you stand out: Strongly Preferred: IaC Expertise Experience writing and maintaining Terraform modules. Experience writing and maintaining Azure DevOps Pipelines. Extensive expertise in Troubleshooting complex connectivity and product delivery workloads Preferred: MS in Computer Science and/or Engineering Preferred: Certifications: AWS Solutions Architect Associate, Associate Cloud Engineer, OCI DevOps Professional, Microsoft Azure DevOps Solutions certification. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location.
