The purpose of this position is to assist the Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer by providing leadership, project management, and completion of high-priority initiatives across the organization. The Director of Strategic Initiatives serves as a key member of the organization's leadership team, responsible for the development, coordination, and execution of initiatives that advance the organization's mission, strategic goals, and long-term sustainability. This position provides strategic support as well as oversight for complex, cross-functional projects and leads efforts to identify opportunities that enhance organizational effectiveness and impact. Key responsibilities include collaborating with senior leadership regarding organizational initiatives, including identifying, planning, and managing strategic projects; cultivating and maintaining strategic partnerships; and supporting initiatives related to special projects, partnership development, communications, and financial sustainability. The Director ensures that strategic objectives are effectively translated into actionable plans and that these initiatives are executed with efficiency, accountability, and measurable outcomes. Essential Duties • Collaborate with executive leadership to assess organizational needs, define strategic priorities, and identify opportunities for growth and innovation. • Lead the planning, development, and execution of strategic initiatives aligned with the organization's mission and priorities. • Oversee the implementation of cross-departmental projects and ensure timely achievement of goals and deliverables. • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with external stakeholders, including community organizations, funders, and other key partners. • Support initiatives that strengthen organizational sustainability, including financial development, communications, and program innovation. • Partner with management to integrate new initiatives into operational workflows. • Support staff engagement and capacity building by providing training, tools, and resources tied to initiative success. • Help establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure progress and impact of strategic initiatives. • Prepare reports, presentations, and communications to inform the Board of Directors, funders, and other stakeholders of progress toward strategic goals. • Contribute to grant reporting and development efforts that support project implementation. • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across all departments. • Supervise and mentor staff, consultants, or project teams as assigned. • Represent organization at events, in public forums, or with community partners. • Perform other related duties as assigned by executive leadership. • Actively participates in applicable committees, including supporting defining committee priorities, goal setting, facilitating committee activities, and being engaged and accountable to committee goals. • Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Agency's strategic plans. • Ensuring the successful execution of initiatives by managing resources, monitoring progress, and making recommendations for improvement. • Assisting in managing budgets and ensuring the financial health and sustainability of initiatives and the organization. • Assist with internal administrative functions as needed. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Knowledge • Understanding of compliance frameworks, quality improvement, and FQHC operational requirements. • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects from concept through completion. • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-informed decisions. • Demonstrated experience with project management • Leadership or supervisory experience in a health care organization, preferably a non-profit federally qualified health center. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively. • Proven ability to develop and sustain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential information. • Proficiency in computer-based applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: • Minimum 5 years of leadership or supervisory experience; • Proven track record of managing multiple projects; • Bachelor's degree or higher in healthcare administration, public health, business administration, marketing, or a related field; • Minimum of 4 years working in non-profit organizations; PREFERRED: • Experience in management of program(s) to include supervision of a multidisciplinary team strongly preferred. • Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or integrated community-health setting. • Lean Six Sigma or PDSA process-improvement experience. • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. WORKING CONDITIONS This job is based in a standard office environment. There is limited exposure to outdoor weather while traveling to surrounding sites. Onsite work and remote hybrid work are allowed with Manager or CEO approval. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This job requires operating phones, computers and other office equipment. Communicating is required on a regular basis. Moving inside the building to other offices and program delivery spaces as well as moving to surrounding sites is expected. Sporadically moves boxes weighing up to 10 pounds.
