Lead and manage day-to-day operations involving chemical and fire safety compliance, emergency response, equipment maintenance, and client/vendor relationship management in the south Texas region.
7+ years of experience with chemical transportation and safety operations, strong management and communication skills, and ability to work remotely with physical ability to wear protective gear.
SUMMARY: The Operations Manager will be accountable for leading and managing the day-to-day operations throughout the south Texas region while also assisting in the growth of the business globally. The position will drive the business unit to meet the client’s needs and business goals while ensuring safety of all projects. • **This position will require the use of chemical and fire barrier suits and respiratory protection while regularly ascending railroad tank cars and ISO tanks.*** PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develops, establishes and maintains programs and systems, processes, procedures and controls ensuring that performance and quality of service conform to established OURAY standards and regulatory requirements. • Travel globally to conduct scheduled and emergency response activities including chemical plant explosions, leaking tank cars & ISO tanks and other scenarios with dangerous commodities. • Project report writing and billing in accordance with OURAY specifications. • Wear appropriate chemical and fire protective PPE for many hours while working in stressful situations. • Maintain all equipment to ensure readiness for emergency response throughout the region. • Provide safety and response training to clients on an as-requested basis. • Ensure personnel maintain all required training and maintain required personnel training records. • Identify areas of improvement and work with leadership to effectively initiate those changes and integrate them into the operations. • Maintain our current relationship and develop additional relationships with customers and vendors throughout the region. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: • Must have a working knowledge of chemical transportation containers including ISO tanks and Railroad Tank Cars. • Must have knowledge of chemical loading and transloading operations for bulk liquid chemicals including liquids and gasses. • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks utilizing organization and prioritization skills, • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work remotely from the corporate headquarters. • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills • Strong problem solving skills • Strong management, staff development and mentoring skills • Must have a working knowledge of a wide range of chemicals and their properties. • Must be able to read and understand a chemical Safety Data Sheet and Safe Handling Guides.
