Role Overview: As a Senior Firmware Engineer at Oura, you will play a critical role in developing and optimizing the embedded software that powers our award-winning Oura Ring. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to enhance device performance, reliability, and user experience, driving innovation in wearable health technology. What You'll Do: - You will design, develop, and maintain firmware for low-power embedded systems used in the Oura Ring. - You will collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate new sensors and features into the device. - You will optimize firmware for power efficiency and performance to extend battery life. - You will conduct thorough testing and debugging to ensure firmware reliability and quality. - You will participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes. - You will work closely with product and design teams to translate user needs into technical solutions. - You will mentor junior engineers and share best practices within the team. - You will stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to keep Oura at the forefront of innovation. What You Bring: - 5+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, preferably in wearable or IoT devices. - Proficiency in C/C++ programming and experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS). - Strong understanding of low-power wireless communication protocols such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). - Experience with hardware debugging tools and techniques. - Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. - Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience with sensor fusion algorithms and signal processing. - Knowledge of mobile app integration and cloud connectivity. - Familiarity with Agile development methodologies. - Background in health technology or consumer electronics.
