Role Overview: As a Senior Firmware Engineer at Oura, you will play a critical role in developing and optimizing the firmware that powers our award-winning Oura Ring. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to enhance device performance, reliability, and user experience, driving innovation in wearable health technology. What You'll Do: - You will design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for the Oura Ring, ensuring high performance and low power consumption. - You will collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate new sensors and features into the device. - You will troubleshoot and resolve firmware issues, improving device stability and user satisfaction. - You will participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices in firmware development. - You will optimize firmware for resource-constrained environments, balancing functionality and efficiency. - You will work closely with the product and design teams to align firmware capabilities with user needs. - You will mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of the engineering team. - You will stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to keep Oura at the forefront of wearable tech. What You Bring: - You have 5+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, preferably in consumer electronics or wearable devices. - You are proficient in C/C++ programming and have a strong understanding of embedded systems architecture. - You have experience with low-power microcontrollers and wireless communication protocols such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). - You possess strong debugging skills using tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG debuggers. - You have a solid understanding of sensor integration and signal processing. - You demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and firmware security best practices. - Knowledge of mobile app development or experience working closely with mobile teams. - Familiarity with cloud-connected devices and IoT ecosystems. - Prior experience in health tech or biometric sensor technology.
