Role Overview: As a Senior Firmware Engineer at Oura, you will play a critical role in developing and optimizing the firmware that powers our award-winning Oura Ring. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to enhance device performance, reliability, and user experience, driving innovation in wearable health technology. What You'll Do: - You will design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for the Oura Ring, ensuring high performance and low power consumption. - You will collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate new sensors and features into the device. - You will troubleshoot and resolve firmware issues, improving device stability and user satisfaction. - You will participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices in firmware development. - You will work closely with the product and design teams to align firmware capabilities with user needs. - You will optimize firmware for resource-constrained environments, balancing functionality and efficiency. - You will mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of the engineering team. What You Bring: - You have 5+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, preferably in wearable or IoT devices. - You possess strong proficiency in C/C++ programming and embedded systems. - You have experience with low-power microcontrollers and real-time operating systems (RTOS). - You are skilled in debugging and performance optimization of embedded systems. - You have a solid understanding of hardware interfaces such as I2C, SPI, and UART. - You demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) protocol and wireless communication. - Familiarity with sensor fusion algorithms and signal processing. - Knowledge of Agile development methodologies. - Experience working in a startup or fast-paced product development environment.
