Job Summary North Florida Surgeons is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support clinical operations across various specialties, including dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, and outpatient clinics. This role involves providing exceptional patient care, assisting with medical procedures, and ensuring smooth administrative and clinical workflows within a fast-paced medical environment. Prior experience in hospital or trauma center settings, as well as proficiency with EHR systems, is highly valued. The Medical Assistant will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive healthcare services while maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards. Responsibilities • Assist with patient intake processes, including collecting medical histories and verifying insurance information • Measure and record vital signs accurately and efficiently • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and understanding • Support physicians during clinical procedures such as office procedures. • Document patient interactions and clinical notes in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems with attention to detail • Perform basic laboratory tasks such as specimen collection and processing • Manage patient service activities by answering questions, providing education, and addressing concerns • Assist with ICD coding, anatomy knowledge applications, and understanding of physiology for accurate documentation • Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas to ensure compliance with safety standards • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding, and medication administration • Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and medical administrative support functions • Ability to perform patient care duties including vital signs collection and basic life support (BLS) certification preferred • Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient populations including geriatrics and pediatric intensive care units (PICU) • Familiarity with outpatient settings • Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and clinical workflows This position offers an opportunity to be part of a respected healthcare organization committed to delivering high-quality patient care across multiple specialties.
