Full Description

Position Summary Operates and maintains boilers, chillers, generators and associated support systems. Responsibilities • Monitors control screens and observes various meters and gauges to ensure equipment is operating properly. • Starts, stops and switches over boilers as appropriate. • Cleans and repairs boilers, blow tubes and discharge sediment, and pumping equipment. • Starts and stops chillers to maintain setpoints and efficiency. • Checks and monitors cooling towers and regulates feed water. • Keeps appropriate logs for chemical treatment to boiler and cooling system water. • Conducts and documents generator testing. • Operates switchgear to regulate and transfer power loads. • Completes assigned preventative and corrective maintenance work orders and ensures work order data is captured in TMS. • Log all pertinent operating information and maintains records to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and Joint Commission guidelines. • Coordinates, conducts and documents all fire and life safety measures to include inspections and testing to ensure compliance with policies. • Assists in training other plant engineers with energy plant operation/maintenance specific skills. • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Qualifications Education/Training High school graduate or equivalent. Licensure/Certification None. Experience Five (5) years of experience in building trades or energy plant operations required. Three years of experience is required if a trade or vocational school graduate.
