Full Description

Senior Software Engineer (Network Infrastructure Platform) - 100% remote (CST) Optomi, in partnership with a client that made $12B in total revenue in 2026 so far (and continues to go up 10% year-over-year) is looking to add software engineers over several network, infrastructure and security initiatives! This client is building the next generation of enterprise infrastructure platforms and becoming a tech-first org. Rather than operating commercial networking products, this team develops the software that powers networking services inside a large-scale private cloud environment. Their long-term vision is to transform internally developed infrastructure into scalable platforms that support multiple business units across a Fortune 500 enterprise. The Software Engineer role over Network Infrastructure is an opportunity to join a highly technical engineering organization that has recently attracted talent from companies such as AWS, Meta, and other leading cloud providers. The team is focused on solving complex distributed systems challenges while building modern networking services from the ground up. If you're passionate about systems programming, cloud infrastructure, networking internals, and building highly scalable platforms, this is an opportunity to work on technology that operates at significant scale. What You'll Do • Design and develop software powering enterprise networking infrastructure and private cloud platforms. • Build and enhance networking services such as Firewall-as-a-Service (FWaaS), Load Balancer-as-a-Service (LBaaS), and other infrastructure APIs. • Develop software that manages networking, compute, and infrastructure orchestration across large-scale data center environments. • Build highly available, distributed systems that prioritize scalability, resiliency, and performance. • Work closely with platform, infrastructure, and systems engineering teams to design cloud-native networking capabilities. • Improve control plane services responsible for provisioning, orchestration, and lifecycle management. • Optimize software for low latency, high throughput, and large-scale production environments. • Contribute to the architecture of next-generation infrastructure platforms supporting enterprise cloud initiatives. What We're Looking For We are seeking software engineers first with deep expertise in networking infrastructure. Ideal candidates have experience building networking products or services—not simply administering vendor technologies. Required Experience • Senior or Staff-level software engineering experience • Strong software development experience with one or more of: Go (Golang), C++, Java and/or Rust • Experience building highly scalable distributed systems • Strong understanding of Linux systems and networking internals preferred • Experience designing APIs, platform services, or infrastructure software • Experience working with private cloud or cloud-native infrastructure • Experience building or developing technologies such as: • Firewall-as-a-Service (FWaaS) • Load Balancer-as-a-Service (LBaaS) • Software-defined networking (SDN) • Cloud networking platforms • Kubernetes networking • Network control planes • Infrastructure orchestration • Service mesh technologies • Network virtualization Preferred Technical Experience Experience with several of the following: • Distributed systems • Concurrency and multithreading • Systems programming • Linux internals • Control plane development • Infrastructure platform engineering • Kubernetes operators or controllers • Infrastructure APIs • Cluster lifecycle management • Performance optimization • High-performance networking • Storage or infrastructure software • Software-defined infrastructure Ideal Backgrounds Candidates may come from organizations focused on building infrastructure software and networking platforms, including: • Hyperscale cloud providers • Cloud infrastructure organizations • Networking software companies • Infrastructure platform engineering teams • Distributed systems engineering organizations • Internal developer platform (IDP) teams • Networking appliance or cloud networking vendors What Success Looks Like Successful engineers in this role enjoy working close to the operating system, understand how networking functions beneath the application layer, and thrive on building the software that powers cloud infrastructure. Rather than configuring infrastructure, you'll be creating the platforms and services that other engineers rely on every day.
