7+ years Java backend experience with Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, AWS, security remediation, and unit testing.
We are seeking an experienced Backend Java Developer to support a large-scale enterprise modernization initiative. This engineer will maintain and enhance existing Java applications while helping migrate a legacy monolithic data warehouse into modern, cloud-native microservices. The role is heavily focused on backend development, including building REST APIs, resolving security vulnerabilities, supporting AWS migration efforts, and performing ongoing operational maintenance. The ideal candidate is comfortable balancing legacy application support with long-term modernization work in a collaborative Agile environment. Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise backend applications using Java and Spring Boot. • Build, enhance, and support RESTful APIs and microservices. • Help decompose legacy monolithic applications into cloud-native services. • Maintain existing enterprise applications and support Operational and Maintenance activities. • Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities by upgrading libraries, frameworks, and application components. • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes. • Work with PostgreSQL and other relational databases using Spring Data JPA and JDBC. • Write unit tests using JUnit and Mockito. • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and improve application reliability and performance. Experience: • 7+ years of backend Java development experience, with closer to seven years preferred. • Strong experience with Spring Boot, REST API development, and microservices architecture. • Experience maintaining and modernizing legacy enterprise applications. • Hands-on experience with AWS or another major cloud platform. • Experience with Spring Security and application security vulnerability remediation. • Proficiency with Spring Data JPA, JDBC, PostgreSQL, and SQL. • Experience with Maven, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and automated deployment processes. • Strong unit-testing experience using JUnit and Mockito. • Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance. • Experience within federal or regulated environments is preferred. • Experience with AWS SDK for Java v2, OpenSearch, Spring Batch, logging and observability tools, ETL, Databricks, Python automation, or ML/MLOps is a plus.
