Full Description

Optomi, in partnership with a leading enterprise organization, is seeking a Full-Stack Developer to support a large-scale modernization initiative. This role will focus on migrating legacy mainframe functionality to a modern technology stack using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and Kafka. The ideal candidate is a strong full-stack engineer who can quickly ramp up on an existing codebase, contribute across front-end and back-end development, and take ownership of development, testing, integration, and delivery. Responsibilities: • Develop and enhance full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Angular. • Modernize and migrate functionality from legacy mainframe systems to modern applications and services. • Build and integrate APIs, microservices, and Kafka-based messaging solutions. • Work with business users and technical teams to understand requirements and translate them into scalable solutions. • Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, integration, deployment, and production support. • Maintain high standards for code quality through testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and engineering best practices. • Make technical and architectural decisions for complex distributed systems. • Collaborate across engineering teams to improve system reliability, performance, and integration. • Identify technical risks and proactively develop solutions to address them. Experience: • 8+ years of software development experience. • Strong hands-on full-stack development experience with Java and Angular. • Experience with Java Spring and/or Spring Boot. • Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar messaging/event-streaming technologies. • Experience developing APIs, microservices, and distributed systems. • Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases. • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, automated testing, and DevOps practices. • Strong communication skills and experience working with cross-functional technical and business teams. • Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP is preferred. • Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry is a plus. • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT is a plus.
