Transport Planning Engineer (MidRange Planner) Optomi, in partnership with a leading telecommunications organization, is seeking a Transport Planning Engineer to support capacity planning and optimization initiatives across multiple network squads. This role will manage approximately seven transport planning squads and will focus on capacity planning at DS1, DS3, SONET, and TDM levels - ensuring efficient allocation and optimization of customer traffic between network locations. The ideal candidate brings carrier-level experience (e.g., Lumen or similar) and a strong understanding of legacy network technologies critical to the organization’s ongoing infrastructure operations. Key Responsibilities: • Lead and coordinate activities across approximately seven network squads, ensuring consistent progress and delivery. • Execute capacity planning and forecasting at the DS1, DS3, SONET, and TDM levels. • Manage customer traffic routing and migrations between network sites for optimal efficiency. • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to identify and resolve transport capacity constraints. • Support the evolution and modernization of transport network architecture while maintaining legacy systems. • Maintain documentation, network diagrams, and utilization metrics to support planning initiatives. • Participate in standups and cross-functional coordination meetings (top priority in afternoons). Must-Have Skills & Experience: • Hands-on experience with capacity planning at DS1, SONET, and TDM levels. • Proven ability to manage multiple squads or concurrent projects. • Strong understanding of customer traffic movement between network locations. • Prior experience with carrier-grade networks (e.g., Lumen, AT&T, Verizon, etc.). • Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
