Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Project Development Manager, Strategic Sites. Reporting to the Director, Strategy & Business Development, this position is responsible for advancing energy generation opportunities at OPG's strategic sites. The role is required to work with a cross functional team of OPG internal business units (stakeholder relations, Indigenous relations, engineering, real estate, finance, commercial, energy markets) to advance optionality for new generation projects at the sites. As the Senior Project Manager, you will lead the development of a site s specific strategy to preserve and expand new generation options, evaluating alternative technologies at existing sites while applying project management best practices to drive progress across the strategic site’s portfolio. You will work closely with stakeholders to proactively share information and ensure alignment, engage early with Indigenous communities to incorporate their perspectives and support capacity building, and collaborate with municipalities to strengthen local capacity for new generation projects. You will monitor relevant municipal, provincial, and federal policies, partner with engineering to advance site optionality for future energy needs, represent OPG in external forums, and build strong relationships across the energy sector, related industries, technology providers, and other key stakeholders. key accountabilities • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to drive project deliverables and milestones and lead or partner with internal project teams and work with external advisors on potential business opportunities. • Address and resolve unique and complex project challenges collaborating across various OPG work groups and translating OPG’s strategic direction into actionable daily activities and incorporate it within long-term planning initiatives. • Participate in public stakeholder and Indigenous community engagements on energy projects to promote meaningful, inclusive and respectful communication. • Proactively identify and assess risks and opportunities within the energy industry to support potential new and existing generation projects for OPG. • Develop and present executive communications to internal and external audiences. • Utilize in-depth knowledge of energy policies and markets to inform business strategies. Project manage and/or support a range of strategic development and planning initiatives. • Provide professional leadership; ensure that staff seek the best practices, develop their skills to benefit OPG to meet current needs and for succession planning in the organization. • Ensure staff are fully engaged and aligned to business goals and objectives. Promote collaboration and teamwork, instilling expectations of excellence and personal best performance. Provide a safe, healthy and positive working environment. QUALIFICATIONS • 4-year university degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Professional designations such as P. Eng or PMP are considered an asset. • Minimum of six (6) years of progressive experience in strategy, business development, or project management, preferably with experience in the energy sector or comparable industry (nuclear experience is helpful but not required) • Strong problem-solving skills to address and overcome current and future challenges. A strong drive and a high level of energy, commitment and enthusiasm to take on complex and challenging situations in a dynamic organization. • Demonstrate technical expertise of Ontario’s energy industry, energy market, broader infrastructure sector, and knowledge of emerging energy technologies and trends, or having experience and exposure from working in/for energy or infrastructure investments, power generation or utilities is preferred. • People orientated with strong interpersonal skills, adept at building and maintaining positive, productive and collaborative working relationships and partnerships externally and internally with a wide variety of stakeholders, including the ability to present material to senior and executive management. • Strong strategic and facilitative leadership skills; demonstrating the ability to effectively lead, influence and motivate teammates • Strong sense of urgency and decision-making skills conducive to managing priorities and meeting internal and external timelines. • Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to distill complex issues into actionable insights.
