Job Title: Veteran Workforce Development Manager Department: Transitional Housing Location: San Diego, CA/San Antonio, TX/Gaithersburg, MD FLSA Status: Exempt Reports to: Director, Transitional Housing Founded in 2002, Operation Homefront is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive, not simply struggle to get by, in the communities they have worked so hard to protect. Operation Homefront is sourcing candidates for a Veteran Workforce Development Manager position in San Diego, CA, San Antonio, TX, or Gaithersburg, MD. The Veteran Workforce Development Manager’s primary responsibility is supporting transitioning servicemembers, veterans and their spouses in achieving career goals through individualized career planning, job skills training, and employer connections. This role involves providing direct support, conducting assessments, facilitating workshops, and engaging with employers to expand opportunities. The Veteran Workforce Development Manager will manage a caseload of veterans and spouses while collaborating with program staff to deliver high-quality employment counseling services. Desired candidates will have: • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Counseling, Vocational Guidance, or related field preferred. • 2-3 years’ experience in non-profit organization or working with military preferred. • Familiarity with military life is preferred. • Valid driver’s license. • Acceptable MVR (annual) • Criminal background check • MS Office 365 • 100/300/100 personal auto coverage Typical duties include: • Provide one-on-one employment counseling and develop individualized career plans for veterans and spouses, supporting short- and long-term employment goals. • Conduct career and skills assessments to identify participant strengths, transferable skills, and employment goals • Facilitate employment-related workshops, including job search strategies, résumé development, interview preparation and job placement. • Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and data entry in compliance with program standards. • Coordinate with community partners and other service providers to enhance employment opportunities. • Build and maintain relationships with local and national employers to identify and develop job opportunities. • Travel as needed to California, Maryland, and Texas to support program sites and clients. • Performs other duties as assigned. Other Details: This will be a remote position with the ability to perform duties from a home office if desired; however, periodic visits to program sites would require some travel to California, Maryland, Texas and the surrounding areas. General office and sedentary. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Ability to drive a motor vehicle and travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events to include overnight travel at least 40% of the time. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
