Full Description

The High School Curriculum Product Manager will drive the spread, adoption, and implementation of OpenSciEd’s high school science program. Because OpenSciEd’s high school curriculum is relatively new, this role emphasizes market landscape analysis, building awareness, positioning, and effective uptake at scale while also ensuring the integrity and usability of the existing product. OpenSciEd’s materials are transformative, designed to fundamentally shift science teaching and learning. This role requires someone who can balance listening to educators and system leaders with leading the field forward, persuading and inspiring stakeholders to embrace new ways of teaching science that better serve students, and creating and directing them to the resources that will ensure successful implementation. The Product Manager will define the vision and positioning of the high school program, collaborate with colleagues across marketing, partnerships, and professional learning, analyze the broader education landscape, and ensure the product remains accurate, current, and trusted. Key Responsibilities1. Vision & Field Leadership Champion transformative science education, helping educators and leaders envision what’s possible with OpenSciEd’s materials. Incorporate customer insights with OpenSciEd’s vision of the instructional shifts needed in high school science. Inspire and persuade districts and states to move toward new, more effective instructional models. Represent OpenSciEd as a thought leader in national conversations about the future of high school science education. 2. Landscape & Data Analysis Conduct and recommend actions based on landscape analyses of the high school science education space, including adoption trends, competitor offerings, and policy developments. Track and interpret shifts in state and national science standards (e.g., NGSS) to ensure curriculum positioning aligns with evolving requirements. Create and manage data streams that integrate external insights and internal adoption data to guide product strategy. 3. Product Adoption & Implementation Develop and lead strategies, informed by market analysis, to expand the use of OpenSciEd’s high school curriculum. Coordinate the design of tools, resources, and guidance to support school and district leaders in implementing effective strategies. Coordinate capacity building for OpenSciEd’s certified distribution partners so they can better support districts; provide direct support only in select cases with large districts. Build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders, and cultivate educator and leader champions to support the adoption of the curriculum. Analyze adoption data and feedback to refine supports and resources. 4. Positioning, Promotion & Professional Learning Define product positioning, messaging, and value propositions that resonate with multiple audiences. Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to design and execute awareness-building campaigns (conferences, webinars, newsletters, digital outreach). Partner with the Professional Learning Design Manager to develop and refine professional learning offerings. Contribute to the on-demand professional learning library and ensure offerings align with adoption goals. 5. Product Integrity Maintain the quality and reliability of the curriculum by managing errata, kit lists, and updates, and ensuring the website is current. Oversee ongoing quality assurance to preserve educator trust. Ensure product updates are coordinated with implementation and professional learning needs. Knowledge & Experience 5+ years of professional experience teaching high school science; experience with storyline instructional models strongly preferred. Experience conducting market and landscape analyses beyond internal data review. Knowledge of the political realities of curriculum adoption processes. Demonstrated success in curriculum development, product management, or related education leadership roles. Proven ability to support the adoption and implementation of educational programs at the district or state level. Familiarity with national and state science standards (e.g., NGSS) and their implications for curriculum adoption. Skills & Abilities Strong communication and storytelling skills; able to tailor messages for diverse audiences. Ability to partner effectively across marketing, professional learning, and partnerships teams. Skilled at synthesizing complex data and policy trends into actionable strategies. Excellent project and fiscal management skills. High emotional intelligence with strong relationship-building skills. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity in education. Capacity to both respond to customer needs and lead customers toward transformative practice. Compensation begins at $125,000-$130,00 with competitive benefits and generous paid time off and holidays. OpenSciEd is a virtual organization, and this position can be based anywhere in the U.S. Work is conducted remotely from a home office or off-site location. OpenSciEd celebrates, supports, and thrives on diversity for the benefit of our team members, our partnerships, and our community. We are an equal opportunity employer and hire without consideration of race, religion, creed, color, national origin, age, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, veteran status, or disability.
