Job Description Onyx Government Service is seeking an experienced Sr. ETL Developer with strong hands-on experience in dbt (data build tool) to design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and transformation processes to support Federal data management and Advanced Analytics projects. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL skills, experience working with modern data platforms, and a solid understanding of data warehousing and ETL/ELT practices. This individual will be responsible for creating data warehouse structures and writing ETL procedure, querying databases, Data Quality assurance, and troubleshooting. The Sr. ETL Developer will join our team as one of the senior developers for a data-warehousing project to solve business intelligence challenges. The position requires deep technical expertise in dbt, PL/SQL, SSIS, BI tools, ETL, and data profiling. Previous consulting experience using an agile delivery methodology is a plus. Responsibilities: Design and develop ETL processes Design, develop, and maintain reliable ETL/ELT data pipelines. Develop and maintain data transformation workflows using dbt. Write complex and optimized SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis. Build and maintain dbt models, sources, tests, snapshots, and documentation. Convert existing PL/SQL procedures into SSIS packages Troubleshoot existing ETL solutions Query Oracle databases for data analysis and data quality assurance Required: Security Clearance: Must possess active BI or NACLC Public Trust security clearance. Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of database (specifically ETL) development, or data processing/analytical experience or combination thereof. Strong hands-on experience with dbt, including models, tests, snapshots, macros, seeds, and documentation. Experience with Git and source-control-based development. Familiarity with CI/CD processes and automated testing. Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills Expertise with data warehouse. Experience with SSIS Experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL databases Strong conceptual, analytical, and decision-making skills Ability to work as a collaborative team, mentoring and training the client on the various tools and techniques to build a complete data warehouse solution Experience with Jira in managing tasks and good understanding of Agile process Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, flexible environment, and take the initiative to learn new tools quickly Excellent innovation, interpersonal, and communication skills required. Must have good communication and writing skills Desired: Experience in Tableau dashboard design and development SAS Enterprise Guide Development Experience with Python for data engineering or automation. Experience with Airflow, Dagster, or similar orchestration tools. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. Experience implementing dbt CI/CD workflows. Familiarity with data governance, data lineage, and data quality frameworks. Quality assurance and validation experience, specifically comparing multiple data sources for discrepancies and inconsistencies Estimated Salary Range: $125,000-$145,000 The salary range for this position represents the anticipated compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's qualifications, experience, education, skills, contract requirements, funding and other business considerations.
