Steel Processing and Logistics Floor Supervisor Employer: O’Neal Steel | Location: Grand Prairie / Dallas, TX Second-shift leadership opportunity — two openings: Processing and Distribution. Why this role matters • Deliver on customer promises by directing processing, loading, and shipping with speed and accuracy in a hub-and-spoke operation. • Model a safety-first culture while improving quality, throughput, and cost. • Translate the company’s goals to the shop floor and develop team members to meet them. What you'll own • People leadership: scheduling, performance coaching, productivity management, and payroll timecard oversight for warehouse and delivery teams. • Training and enablement: ensure team members receive proper training, instructions, and tools. • Production control: coordinate and execute daily/weekly schedules; assign work, fill vacancies, and allocate overtime to meet delivery dates. • Quality assurance: verify products meet established quality standards. • Continuous improvement: use Lean, Visual Factory, and 5S to raise safety and housekeeping standards. • Resource planning: assess service levels and recommend staffing adjustments. • Asset uptime: collaborate with Maintenance on preventive maintenance plans to maximize equipment utilization. • Policy stewardship: administer and uphold policies, procedures, and work rules; monitor individual and line performance for compliance. • Financial discipline: manage to budget and deliver on departmental goals. • Customer focus: resolve internal/external issues and elevate team morale. • KPIs: consistently hit OTD, QDR, LTA, MH/Ton targets and other established metrics. Processing track — added scope • Issue written production schedules and distribute to machine operators; track on-time completion. • Coordinate cross-departmental workflow; re-sequence work to mitigate delays; expedite overdue orders. • Leverage ShopLogix to analyze and improve machine efficiency. • Partner with Sales on time studies and material usage to improve operational outcomes. • Work processing variance reports to correct allocations and resolve discrepancies. • Adjust work order start dates against request dates to maintain accurate lead-time schedules. What sets you up for success • 3+ years leading teams in a steel service center, metals processing/manufacturing, or warehouse/distribution environment (steel processing/service center strongly preferred). • Applied knowledge of Lean Manufacturing. • Experience with safety training, truck scheduling, and routing. • Advanced Excel skills and strong overall computer proficiency. • Valid Driver's License. Education Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations, Logistics, or Supply Chain preferred. Equivalent experience/training considered.
