The Underwriting Assistant will maintain electronic policy files and issue policies in accordance with underwriting proposals. They will also process endorsements, cancellations, and provide customer service by responding to requests for status updates.
Candidates should have 1-2 years of experience in the P&C insurance industry and possess excellent communication skills. Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize workload with minimal supervision are essential.
We’re seeking an Underwriting Assistant to join our Inland Marine team, working directly with customers and providing support to our Underwriters. We specialize in writing Builders Risk, Transportation, and Contractors Equipment insurance across the country. Your Impact: With the direction of an experienced underwriter: Maintaining electronic policy files on an on-going basis, including the assurance that policy files are properly documented and organized according to the department’s standards. Issuing policies utilizing our automated systems in conformance with underwriting proposals and binding instructions within 48 hours of receipt from underwriter. Requesting and following up for missing documentation from agents Processing of endorsements, cancellations and/or reinstatement of policies. Issue New Business and Renewals policies within required timeframe Handle new submissions including clearance, submission set up and requests for additional information. Provide customer service by responding promptly and courteously to all requests for status updates and information. Successful Candidates Will Have: 1-2 years of P&C insurance industry experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and sharp attention to detail Self-motivation and problem solving abilities Ability to organize and prioritize workload with little supervision and efficiently make sound business decisions within level of authority Basic to intermediate skills with MS Word, Outlook, and Excel One80 Intermediaries is a privately held firm with offices throughout the US and Canada.
