Develop and optimize low-latency video streaming pipelines and backend services for Android game streaming.
7+ years experience with deep Android native and backend skills in Java/Go/Python, plus streaming technology expertise.
Core Responsibilities • Game Streaming Optimization: Develop and optimize low-latency video streaming pipelines within the Android framework, focusing on encoder/decoder performance and network jitter buffers. • AOSP Development: Customize and extend Android Open Source Project (AOSP) components, specifically targeting system services, HIDL/AIDL, and the Android Media framework. • Backend Engineering: Design and deploy high-throughput backend services and APIs to handle real-time device-to-cloud telemetry and session management. • System Integration: Implementation of communication protocols (WebRTC, gRPC, or RTSP) between the Android OS and cloud-side streaming infrastructure. • Performance & Debugging: Root-cause complex issues across the stack, specifically targeting frame drops, input lag, and memory management in native C++. Technical Requirements • Streaming Tech: Experience with H.264/H.265 codecs, FFmpeg, MediaCodec API, and low-latency transport protocols. • Android: Deep experience with AOSP, system services, JNI, and C++. • Backend: Proficiency in [Java/Go/Python] and experience with distributed systems/microservices. • Infrastructure: Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud providers (AWS/GCP/Azure). • Systems: Solid understanding of Linux kernel internals, specifically regarding scheduling and memory for real-time applications. Qualifications • 7+ years of software engineering experience. • Direct experience shipping products in the game streaming or real-time video space. • Proven ability to work independently in a contract capacity.
