This role is responsible for the successful implementation, adoption, and ongoing optimization of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and associated clinical technologies across the organization. By combining clinical expertise with informatics and technical knowledge, the Director ensures that health information systems support safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. The position leads cross-functional efforts to align clinical workflows with system capabilities, maintain data integrity, and promote the meaningful use of health information systems. The Director also plays a central role in change management, user training, governance, and enterprise-wide coordination of clinical technology initiatives. Essential Responsibilities EHR Administration & Optimization: Serves as the primary administrator for the EHR system, ensuring system configuration aligns with clinical workflows, regulatory standards, and organizational needs. Access & Security Management: Oversees user access, security roles, and permissions in compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and organizational policies. Clinical Configuration: Designs and maintains clinical templates, order sets, alerts, and documentation tools to improve usability, standardization, and clinical efficiency. Clinical–IT Liaison: Acts as the primary point of contact between clinicians, EHR vendors, and internal technical teams to resolve issues and coordinate system updates. Performance Improvement: Partners with clinical and operational leaders to identify enhancement opportunities, address performance gaps, and support innovation initiatives. Support & Escalation: Acts as the primary contact for support for EHR-related issues and escalates support to the EHR vendor as needed for advanced troubleshooting and development. Testing & Validation: Leads system testing, validation, and documentation for upgrades, patches, and new feature deployments. Training & Change Management: Develops and delivers training materials and education sessions to support clinical users and promote best practices. Data Governance & Quality: Participates in data governance initiatives to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of clinical data. Monitoring & Analytics: In collaboration with the Clinical Analyst, reviews system utilization, performance metrics, and user feedback to drive continuous improvement. Clinical Best Practices: Serves as a clinical informatics leader in developing best practices that support consistent, high-quality care delivery. Additional Responsibilities Provides guidance and consultation on clinical technology initiatives, system enhancements, and workflow optimization. Supports enterprise-wide health IT initiatives and cross-functional projects as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. QualificationsWhat We Are Seeking/Education and Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, Information Technology, Nursing, or a related field OR 15+ years of experience in health information management, clinical informatics, healthcare IT, or a related discipline. Additional Requirements Strong understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare documentation standards. Knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and EHR compliance requirements. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
