Role Overview: As a Patient Access Representative in the Chabert Emergency Department, you will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience. Your role is vital in managing patient information, facilitating access to care, and supporting the emergency department's operational efficiency. What You'll Do: - You will greet and register patients promptly and courteously. - You will verify patient insurance and demographic information accurately. - You will collect co-pays and other payments as required. - You will coordinate with clinical staff to ensure timely patient flow. - You will maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. - You will handle patient inquiries and provide excellent customer service. - You will assist in resolving registration and billing issues. - You will support the emergency department team during peak times and emergencies. What You Bring: - Minimum of 1-2 years experience in patient registration or healthcare customer service. - Strong knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. - Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems. - High school diploma or equivalent; additional healthcare certification is a plus. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience working in an emergency department or urgent care setting. - Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish. - Familiarity with Ochsner Health System policies and procedures. - Certification in patient access or healthcare administration.
