Role Overview: As a Patient Access Representative in the Chabert Emergency Department, you will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a smooth and compassionate registration process. Your role is vital in facilitating patient access to emergency services while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality. What You'll Do: - You will greet and register patients efficiently and courteously in the emergency department. - You will verify patient information and insurance details to ensure accurate billing. - You will manage patient records and maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. - You will assist patients and families with questions regarding their visit and hospital services. - You will coordinate with clinical staff to facilitate patient flow and reduce wait times. - You will handle phone inquiries and schedule follow-up appointments as needed. - You will document all patient interactions accurately in the hospital information system. - You will participate in ongoing training to stay current with hospital policies and procedures. What You Bring: - Minimum of 2 years experience in patient registration or healthcare customer service. - Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and staff. - Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain patient confidentiality. - Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills. - Ability to work a rotating weekend schedule and adapt to a seven days on/seven days off shift pattern. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience working in an emergency department or fast-paced healthcare environment. - Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes. - Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish or French. - Certification in patient access or healthcare administration.
