Role Overview: As a Patient Access Representative in the Chabert Emergency Department, you will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience. Your role is vital in managing patient information, facilitating access to care, and supporting the emergency department's operational efficiency. What You'll Do: - You will greet and register patients promptly and courteously. - You will verify patient insurance and demographic information accurately. - You will collect co-pays and other payments as required. - You will maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. - You will coordinate with clinical staff to ensure timely patient flow. - You will handle patient inquiries and provide clear information about services. - You will update and maintain accurate patient records in the system. - You will assist with scheduling follow-up appointments as needed. What You Bring: - Minimum of 2 years experience in patient registration or healthcare customer service. - Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work a rotating weekend schedule and seven days on/seven days off shifts. - Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills. - Knowledge of insurance verification and billing processes. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience working in an emergency department setting. - Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish. - Certification in Medical Terminology or Patient Access. - Familiarity with Ochsner Health System policies and procedures.
