Role Overview: As a Patient Access Representative in the Chabert Emergency Department, you will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a smooth and compassionate registration process. Your role is vital in facilitating patient access to emergency care while maintaining accuracy and efficiency in data collection. What You'll Do: - You will greet and register patients promptly and courteously in the emergency department. - You will verify patient information and insurance details to ensure accurate records. - You will collect necessary documentation and assist patients with forms and questions. - You will coordinate with clinical staff to support patient flow and care delivery. - You will maintain confidentiality and comply with healthcare regulations and policies. - You will handle patient inquiries and resolve access-related issues professionally. - You will document all patient interactions and update electronic health records accurately. - You will participate in training and development to stay current with hospital procedures. What You Bring: - Minimum of 2 years experience in patient registration or healthcare customer service. - Strong knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare insurance processes. - Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and data entry. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse patient populations. - Ability to work a rotating schedule including weekends and seven days on/seven days off shifts. - Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience working in an emergency department or fast-paced healthcare environment. - Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish or French. - Certification in patient access or healthcare administration. - Familiarity with Ochsner Health System policies and procedures.
