Role Overview: As a Patient Access Representative in the Chabert Emergency Department, you will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a smooth and compassionate intake process. Your role is vital in facilitating patient access to emergency services while maintaining accuracy and efficiency in registration and insurance verification. What You'll Do: - You will greet and register patients promptly and courteously in the emergency department. - You will verify patient insurance information and eligibility to ensure proper billing. - You will collect and document patient demographic and medical information accurately. - You will coordinate with clinical staff to facilitate patient flow and care delivery. - You will handle patient inquiries and provide clear information about hospital services. - You will maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations at all times. - You will assist in resolving registration and billing issues as they arise. - You will support the emergency department team during peak times and special situations. What You Bring: - Minimum of 2 years experience in patient registration or healthcare customer service. - Strong knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse patient populations. - Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and data entry. - Ability to work a rotating weekend schedule and adapt to a fast-paced environment. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience working in an emergency department or acute care setting. - Certification in Patient Access or Medical Billing. - Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish or French. - Familiarity with Ochsner Health System policies and procedures.
