Role Overview: As a Patient Access Representative in the Chabert Emergency Department, you will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a smooth and welcoming registration process. Your role is vital in facilitating patient access to emergency care while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality. What You'll Do: - You will greet and register patients efficiently and courteously in the emergency department. - You will verify patient information and insurance details to ensure accurate records. - You will assist patients and families with questions regarding registration and hospital policies. - You will coordinate with clinical and administrative staff to facilitate patient flow. - You will maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations at all times. - You will manage data entry and update patient records in the hospital information system. - You will handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism. - You will participate in training and development activities to enhance your skills. What You Bring: - Minimum of 2 years experience in patient registration or healthcare customer service. - Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and hospital information systems. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and staff. - Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure. - Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes. - Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and data security. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience working in an emergency department or acute care setting. - Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish or French. - Certification in Medical Administration or Patient Access. - Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and healthcare regulations.
