Role Overview: As a Patient Access Representative in the Chabert Emergency Department, you will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a smooth and compassionate registration process. Your role is vital in facilitating patient access to emergency care while maintaining accuracy and efficiency in data collection. What You'll Do: - You will greet and register patients promptly and courteously in the emergency department. - You will verify patient information and insurance details to ensure accurate records. - You will collect necessary documentation and assist patients with forms and questions. - You will coordinate with clinical staff to support patient flow and care delivery. - You will maintain confidentiality and comply with healthcare regulations and policies. - You will handle patient inquiries and resolve access-related issues professionally. - You will update and manage patient records in the electronic health system. - You will participate in training and development to stay current with procedures and technology. What You Bring: - Minimum of 1-2 years experience in patient registration or healthcare customer service. - Strong knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse patient populations. - Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and data entry accuracy. - Ability to work a rotating schedule including weekends and seven days on/seven days off shifts. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience working in an emergency department or fast-paced healthcare environment. - Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish or French, to assist a broader patient base. - Certification in patient access or healthcare administration. - Familiarity with Ochsner Health System policies and procedures.
