The AI Product Support Specialist will build AI agents to handle support scenarios and create systems that reduce ticket volume significantly. They will consult with users to achieve real outcomes and work closely with product and engineering teams.
Candidates should have a strong drive to build systems and a keen interest in engineering concepts. Familiarity with support tools and a passion for AI innovation are also important.
AI Product Support Specialist About Obvious We're building an AI‑native workspace—an operating system for work that puts co‑intelligence at the center. Start with data or an idea, describe your goal, and Obvious goes to work: running analysis, searching the web, writing documents, generating tables, designing presentations, visualizing data, building dashboards, and more. What if, instead of just vibe coding, you could vibe‑work? What if getting from idea to done wasn't so opaque, stubborn, and high‑latency? What if there was a way to consistently deliver work that feels like it came from the best version of you on your best day? That's Obvious. This role reports to: VP of Customer Success and Support A note from the hiring manager My entire career has been shaped by one thing: just figure it out. That mindset brought me here. I've spent four years building CS at a startup, and now I'm at Obvious doing something I didn't think I'd get to do again. Building support infrastructure from zero. No legacy systems. No "that's how we've always done it." Just the opportunity to define what world-class looks like when AI is at the center, not bolted on as an afterthought. I'm looking for someone who's already at the forefront of this next wave. Not someone who's figuring out how to use AI. Someone who's pushing the boundaries of what AI can do in support. The person others ask "how did you do that?" A trendsetter, not a follower. Here's what makes this role different. You'll fix bugs without writing code or waiting for engineering. You'll build AI agents that handle entire support scenarios end-to-end. You'll use Obvious to build Obvious support. You'll create systems that eliminate 80%+ of tickets before they reach a human. You won't just be answering questions. You'll be consulting with users on achieving real outcomes. Building infrastructure that scales. Working embedded with product and engineering to influence what gets built. We're small and talent-dense. Our founding team includes world-class builders, former founders, and leaders from Netflix, Google, Uber, Meta, Instacart, Shopify, Apple, and Twitter. If you're excited to define what support looks like when AI isn't just a tool but the foundation, I want to hear from you. This is about building something from scratch with people who care deeply about craft, velocity, and creating those genuine "got your back" moments for our customers. That's what I'm building for. Becca Weiss - VP of Customer Success and Support You will thrive in this role if you have: A strong drive to build and improve systems, rather than just using existing ones. A keen interest in understanding engineering concepts—APIs, data models, system architecture, debugging, and technical problem-solving. A passion for exploring and pushing the boundaries of AI, with an enthusiasm to introduce innovative AI workflows. A resourceful spirit and a commitment to learn and apply AI, automation platforms, APIs, and no-code tools. An interest in developing skills in systems thinking, technical writing, data analysis, and product thinking. An openness to working closely and collaboratively with product and engineering teams. Some familiarity with support tools (like Zendesk, Intercom) and an interest in understanding their capabilities and limitations. What great looks like Outcome-Oriented AI Innovator: You're driven to consult on outcomes, not just solve tickets, pushing the boundaries of AI in support to invent new applications and be the person others ask, "how did you do that?" Resourceful System Builder: You possess a "can-do" attitude, keen to understand engineering concepts, debug issues, and build infrastructure that eliminates repetitive work and scales solutions. Autonomous & Accountable Decision-Maker: You thrive with extreme autonomy, making decisions with incomplete information, owning outcomes, and exercising impeccable judgment to know when to automate and when to add a human touch. High-Velocity Team Player: You operate with high agency and low ego, working at an unreasonable pace without leaving a mess, adapting quickly, and doing whatever it takes for team success. This role may not be a fit if: You're still figuring out how to use AI rather than already being at the forefront You're not excited about 100% AI adoption (non-negotiable) You prefer traditional support focused on answering tickets rather than building systems You're uncomfortable with engineering concepts or technical problem-solving You require highly structured requirements and aren't comfortable with ambiguity You prefer established organizations with defined playbooks rather than creating from scratch You need clear separation between support and the build team Obvious is a remote-first company with periodic in-person collaboration at our Atlanta studio. While day-to-day work is remote, you'll need to be flexible and willing to travel to Atlanta for team sessions—frequency varies by team and project needs. #LI-Remote What you'll get at Obvious (Available for US-based full-time employees only) Competitive compensation—optimized for you and your future.
