Manage reinsurance accounting interactions including cession statements, collateral monitoring, financial reconciliations, and support reinsurance agreement discussions.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, 3+ years insurance experience, strong reinsurance accounting knowledge, general ledger experience, and ability to work independently remotely.
Location: 100% remote position, candidates **MUST** be located in the northeast with a preference for the tri-state area. The Reinsurance Accountant will lead accounting interactions with reinsurance partners including cessions, collateral management, and contingent calculations. This position will require a firm understanding of reinsurance accounting and ability to understand reinsurance contracts. Responsibilities • Responsible for preparation of cession statements and remittance • Develop and maintain relationships with reinsurers and reinsurance brokers with regards to cessions/accounting • Assist with collateral monitoring and analysis including letter of credit and related funding requirements when necessary. • Responsible for the timely collection of receivables and payables to reinsurers/brokers • Actively participate in internal and/or external discussions on new/renewal reinsurance agreements • Execute controls accurately. • ·Responsible for calculation of adjustable features on collateral and commission arrangements, including contingent and sliding scale commission for direct and ceded business. • Prepare General Ledger Entries • Prepare Balance Sheet Reconciliations • Assist in preparation of Schedule F and other financial statements • Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential • Additional duties as directed Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field • 3+ years related insurance experience • Property and Casualty Insurance Program experience a plus • Strong knowledge of reinsurance accounting principles and practices • General ledger experience • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data • Ability to work independently and remotely • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
