Job Description- Long Term Substitute- GSRP Teacher Location: Berkley Building Blocks 14700 Lincoln Ave. Oak Park, MI 48237 Status: Full-time 40 hours per week Shift: 7:30-3:30 M-F EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-year college or university in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or related field or a BA with CDA required. • Minimum of two years previous related experience coordinating or delivering direct services to preschool children • Qualifications: • Meet the requirements set forth by the Licensing Agency • Documentation of a physical examination including a TB Test is mandatory within 30 days of start date, and thereafter, as required. • Two sets of fingerprints and Central Registry Clearance verification must be completed prior to start date. • CPR and First Aid Certification is required within 60 days of start date and renewed every year. • Experience with HighScope curriculum preferred • DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The job duties listed are typical examples of the work performed by the position in this job classification. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Ensure compliance with GSRP Performance Standards in the Education area and implement all policies and procedures governing the operation of this service area. • Complies with all Berkley Building Blocks policies and procedures. • Develops and implements lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate, following HighScope curriculum • Scans all children with a standardized developmental screening instrument: ages and stages online. • Supervises, trains, and evaluates caregivers in their classroom. • Monitors and facilitates the screening, assessment, and individual education planning process for all children in their class. • Observes all classroom staff and provides feedback to staff on the results of the observations. • Ensures that licensing, health and safety requirements are met for each site. • Reviews and provides feedback to parents using the COR, Developmental Goals and other reports/records related to the child's • Create a warm and welcoming environment for children and families • Exhibit strong classroom management • Facilitate the free play of children indoors and outdoors • Implement daily activities and lesson plans using the HighScope Curriculum, and post lessons for parents to view each day • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds or more at all times • Prepare the learning environment, caregiving routines, and preparing needed materials and supplies daily • Monitoring the quantity, quality, appearance, maintenance and storage of all supplies and equipment needed for the program • Establish and maintain a positive relationship with all co-workers and parents • Adhere to all licensing and accreditation regulations • Exhibit excellent attendance • Attend Building Blocks family events • Attend lead teacher meetings as well as Behavior Support Team and PLT meetings DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: Until filled District Vision Our inclusive culture will inspire, empower and lead all learners to realize their full potential and make a positive difference in their future and community.
