INTERNAL/EXTERNAL POSTING JOB TITLE: High School English Teacher LOCATION: Madison High School START DATE: January 26, 2026 SALARY: Per MEA Master Agreement DESCRIPTION Madison District Public Schools is seeking a full-time English Teacher at Madison High School for the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate will have a passion for literature, writing, and communication, and will inspire students to think critically, express themselves effectively, and develop a lifelong appreciation for reading and learning. They will be committed to differentiating instruction, integrating technology, and creating a classroom environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and respect. QUALIFICATIONS • Valid Michigan teaching certificate in English, BA Endorsement • Demonstrated knowledge of Michigan Academic Standards for English • Demonstrated ability to engage students in reading and writing across genres • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, parents, and staff • Strong communication, technology, and organizational skills • Competency in student management and supervision ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction aligned with Michigan Academic Standards for English Language Arts. • Incorporate reading, writing, speaking, listening, and media literacy into lessons. • Design engaging units and assessments that challenge students and promote higher-order thinking. • Assess student progress through assignments, tests, and other evaluation methods. • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents. • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and attendance. • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement. • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student learning and development. • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices. • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.
