Paraeducator for Early Childhood Special Education Program JobID: 15013 Position Type: Special Education/Special Education Paraprofessional Date Posted: 1/8/2026 Location: Administrative and Community Services Center Date Available: Immediately Closing Date: 01/16/2026 District: West Bloomfield School District Additional Information: Show/Hide REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Possess a high school diploma. • Possess knowledge of students with special needs. • High degree of initiative and energy level along with the ability to spontaneously adapt to new situations. • Proficiency in the use of computers, Microsoft Word, Excel and the Internet. • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job including but not limited to: running, kneeling, sitting on the floor, rising from the floor, bending, lifting. • Ability to work with and manage student behavior individually, in groups and in a variety of learning environments (lunchroom, hallway, playground, classroom, community, etc.). • Ability to implement behavior plans/systems and/or medical plans developed by the team, including the ability to assist in observing and recording behavior data. • Ability to be a productive, contributing member of building team; including working with a variety of professional staff with diverse teaching styles. • Be competent in basic academic areas in order to be able to modify and adjust assignments for students based on individual functioning level. • Possess the ability to interpret and understand IEP goals/objectives for students. • Must have a working understanding of various disabilities and the ability to develop a rapport with Special Education students. • Must be willing to assist and participate with teaching basic living skills including toileting and feeding. • Possess the ability to maintain student confidentiality. • Must attend and successfully complete CPI training prior to the start of the school year and maintain certification annually - training to be offered in August. SALARY: In accordance with the current West Bloomfield Paraeducator Association master agreement (Classification 46 / starting wage is $16.40 per hour) + additonal $.50 per hour for 60 credits or Associate's Degree or higher.
