Summary The Business Development & Marketing Officer is responsible for driving the growth, visibility, and community impact of the New York University Federal Credit Union (NYUFCU). This role blends strategic outreach with creative marketing to expand membership, deepen member relationships, and promote NYUFCU’s mission of financial inclusion and sustainability. The Officer will serve as the face of NYUFCU in the NYU community and beyond—building partnerships, launching targeted campaigns, and championing innovative programs such as green lending, homeownership support, and small business financing. Success in this role will strengthen NYUFCU’s position as one of the leading mission-driven credit unions in the nation. Business Development • Identify, develop, and maintain strategic partnerships with NYU departments, student groups, faculty, staff, and community organizations to expand NYUFCU’s membership and lending opportunities. • Build relationships with local businesses, contractors, and green energy partners to strengthen NYUFCU’s role in sustainable financing (solar, EV, energy efficiency). • Develop tailored financial solutions for underserved and LIDAC communities in alignment with NYUFCU’s CDFI mission. • Support the design and rollout of new lending products (green home loans, small business lending, mortgage programs, Quick Cash, etc.). • Track market trends, competitor activity, and member feedback to recommend new products and services. • Represent NYUFCU at community events, NYU activities, and industry conferences to raise awareness and attract new members. Marketing • Plan, implement, and evaluate NYUFCU’s marketing strategy across digital platforms, campus channels, community networks, and traditional media. • Manage promotional campaigns for high-impact products (e.g., First-Time Homebuyer grants, Green Lending, EV financing). • Oversee brand consistency and messaging that highlights NYUFCU’s mission-driven, sustainable, and community-focused values. • Collaborate with Communications to produce newsletters, social media content, website updates, and member education materials. • Develop targeted outreach to LIDAC and underrepresented groups to ensure equitable access to financial services. • Measure marketing effectiveness through data analytics and member feedback, adjusting campaigns for impact and ROI. Member & Community Engagement • Serve as an ambassador for NYUFCU by creating meaningful experiences that build trust and loyalty with members. • Organize educational workshops (financial literacy, homeownership readiness, sustainable lending opportunities). • Coordinate community events, sponsorships, and networking opportunities that enhance NYUFCU’s visibility and reputation. • Partner with internal teams to ensure a seamless member journey from awareness to onboarding to long-term engagement. Operational & Strategic Support • Report regularly on business development and marketing performance to the CEO and Board. • Contribute to NYUFCU’s Strategic Plan by aligning outreach with asset growth, sustainability, and inclusion goals. • Ensure all marketing and partnership activities comply with NCUA, CDFI, and regulatory requirements. • Manage budget for business development and marketing initiatives, ensuring cost-effectiveness. Each member of the NYUFCU team is responsible for providing a great Member Experience. Member Experience Responsibilities: · Greet and welcome members and visitors to the credit union in a professional manner. Provide prompt, efficient, and accurate service in the processing of transactions. · Provide in-person and by-telephone general and specific service-related information concerning credit union services or policies. Respond to email or other electronic requests submitted by members, again providing professional, prompt, efficient, and accurate service and information with regards to requests, problems, and complaints and/or direct them to the appropriate person for specific information and assistance. · Be acknowledgeable in opening new accounts and servicing existing accounts. · Promote credit union products and services based on member’s needs. Be a subject matter expert in Credit Union products and services to effectively and confidently cross-sell accounts and memberships and promotions. · Assist members with loan application process, loan related questions and assess current financial standing of the member and creditworthiness. Work with members to position for better future financial stability. · Provide financial education seminars at the different locations at NYU. · Be familiar with operation policies and loan policies and fully understand the underwriting process for loans and mortgages. Provide financial education seminars at different locations at NYU. 3. Participate in scheduled training both in-house and in specific locations. 4. Employment with NYUFCU requires on-going participation in NYUFCU’s advocacy, outreach, community organizing, and other activities as determined by NYUFCU. Creates and supports a positive work environment. : Strong data entry and typing skills with ability to work with NYUFCU core software to accurately complete documentation and data entry for efficient and paperless counseling.
