Director of Software Engineering Overview Our client is hiring a senior technology leader to own how software is designed, built, integrated, and supported across the organization. This role is accountable for both the people and the systems, ensuring technology solutions are practical, reliable, and aligned with real business operations. You will lead the team responsible for internal and client-facing software platforms, setting technical direction while staying close enough to execution to ensure quality and long-term sustainability. Responsibilities • Build, lead, and develop a multidisciplinary software and integration team • Set clear direction, expectations, and operating standards across the function • Guide software initiatives from early concept through deployment and ongoing support • Shape system architecture and integration approaches across platforms, vendors, and tools • Translate business needs into clear technical priorities • Partner with senior leadership to align technology initiatives with company goals • Track progress and performance using outcome-focused metrics • Collaborate closely with commercial, operational, and client-facing teams Experience • Extensive experience leading software teams responsible for production systems • Proven ownership of end-to-end software delivery in live environments • Broad technical foundation across application development, infrastructure, and integrations • Experience operating in reliability-focused, operationally complex settings Leadership Profile • Able to communicate technical concepts in clear business terms • Comfortable leading distributed and diverse teams • Strategic thinker with strong execution discipline • Calm, steady communicator in complex or ambiguous situations Role Scope • Team leadership and development approximately 50 percent • Hands-on technical oversight approximately 30 percent • Architecture and technical decision-making approximately 20 percent
