INSTRUCTOR JOB SUMMARY: The "teacher scientist" will be responsible for teaching our hands-on after school science programs for children in elementary schools in Northville, Livonia and surrounding area. This position plays a key role in our organization by interacting directly with elementary school employees, parents and children while representing Nuts About Science in a positive and professional manner. Hours are 3:30-5:15 pm, 1-2 days a week. Pay is $65 per class taught. INSTRUCTOR QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor's Degree in Education OR Experience Teaching Elementary age students • Strong communication and presentation skills • Strong time management skills Enthusiastic, energetic, motivated, child friendly, self-motivated, dependable and flexible. INSTRUCTOR FUNCTIONS: • Deliver and facilitate our hands-on Science programs to elementary-aged children in a safe and fun manner in Northville, Livonia and surrounding area. • Implement sound classroom management techniques during program facilitation. • Review, study and learn program dialogue prior to program delivery. INSTRUCTOR REQUIREMENTS: -Valid driver's license, proof of auto insurance and own means of reliable transportation required Ability to transport a 20-30 pound supply cart in and out of your vehicle. • Ability to communicate effectively and handle calmly and efficiently situations ranging from routine to emergency. • Operate standard office and classroom equipment including projector, personal computer, phone, copier, elementary scientific equipment, etc. • Willingness to become an independent contractor and form an LLC Interested candidates email us your resume with references.
